    Fixed Plant Urgent Work Coordinator Mechanical

    Job Description
    As Fixed Plant Urgent Work Coordinator Mechanical you will be required to lead the Urgent Work crew which consists of all relevant mechanical trades. Additional responsibilities will be to maintain and assist in the operation of fixed plant installations, equipment and systems according to sound engineering practice for equipment and installation specifications.

    Your responsibilities will include but not limited:

    • Provides input to and updates the overall engineering plan for maintenance and repair of mechanical infrastructure, equipment and machinery to support the operations.
    • Planning of activities in accordance with production schedules and allocation of resources as required.
    • Effective communication to relevant stakeholder to minimize production delays.
    • Investigate, diagnose and perform trade related maintenance and repair of mechanical infrastructure, equipment and machinery according to the maintenance requirements.
    • Attend to defects raised on pre-start reports, breakdown sheets and over-inspection reports
    • Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health & Safety Act regulations, manufacturing and company standards to report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the Line Manager

    Qualifications
    Formal qualifications:

    • Code B Driver’s License
    • A supervisory qualification would be advantageous

    Experience Required:
    Additional requirements:

    • 3+ Years continuous experience as an Artisan in a Shafts & Fixed Plant Infrastructure system. With relative maintenance experience in maintaining Koepe Winders, BAC, Main Ventilation Fans, dewatering systems and ground handling systems

    Job Description:

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Winder Engine Driver

    As an Winder Engine Driver where you will be responsible for the safe and effective operation of the shaft winder regarding the haulage of Ore and materials during a shift.

    Job Description:

    Your role will include but not limited to:

    • Safe and effective operation of the Winder during a shift, within the framework of the act and identifying electrical and/or mechanical faults
    • Operating a winding engine
    • Communicating winding engine defects to the appropriate supervisor or manager
    • Co-ordinate winding activities with total process requirements.

    This role is in the VUP Engineering department at a CL level reporting to the General Engineering Supervisor.

    Qualifications:

    Formal qualifications:

    • Grade 12 / N3 / Equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
    • DMR Certificate of Competency as a Winding Engine Driver
    • Onsetter Certificate 

     Role-specific knowledge:

    • 3 years' experience as a Winding Engine Driver in a similar environment.
    • Sound knowledge and experience of Safety, Health and Environmental Legislation and standards applicable to field of work
    • Please note:  Will be expected of all successful candidates to undergo training regarding the winder system at the mine

    Additional Information:

    • Valid EB / Code 8 Drivers License

    Senior Foreman Logistics

    Job Description:

    You will be responsible for coordinating the shaft hoisting of men and material, shaft inspections and operational maintenance activities. You will coordinate effective and safe transportation of personnel and material to the underground work sites via the decline.

    Your role will:

    • Ensure effective logistics operation and supervision of the shaft hoisting and decline activities.
    • Conduct shaft inspections and operational maintenance of shaft and decline infrastructure.
    • Pursue and drive a culture of zero harm and ensure all aspects of the work are completed in adherence to the De Beers’ Safety, Health, Security, Quality and Environmental standards and systems.
    • Compile reports and keep statistics as may be required.
    • Inspect subordinates in their daily activities to ensure effective activities in logistics and batch plant.
    • Communicate equipment information and changes to relevant stakeholder to minimize production delays.

    Qualifications:

    Formal qualifications:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent NQF Level qualification
    • Underground Blasting Certificate / Onsetter ticket is essential

    Additional requirements:

    • Computer literate MS Office Suite
    • Completion of a Supervisory Development Programme – an advantage
    • Valid EB/Code 8 Drivers License
    • Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground
