    Assistant Training Officer - Learners

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assisting in the compilation of SLP targets for Engineering Learners, taking into consideration current numbers, turnover and employment equity considerations.
    • Assisting with the recruitment, onboarding, and induction of engineering learners and practical trainees.
    • Coordinating the placement and training schedules of learners at CTC and Operations.
    • Maintaining learner records in accordance with MQA, QCTO, ISO and Learning and Development Policies and Procedures.
    • Providing accurate progress reports on all learners as per required monthly and weekly departmental reporting.
    • Reviewing Learner feedback to identify areas of improvement.
    • Evaluating the Learnership Program and providing inputs for improvement.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Grade 12 Certificate
    • Engineering Trade Certificate
    • An Assessor Certificate

    Minimum Experience:

    • Minimum 3 years' experience as an Artisan
    • MS Office Proficiency
    • Driver’s License (Code EB/08).
    • Experience in the mining industry an added advantage

    Training Officer - Opencast

    Key Responsibilities

    • Consolidating the training needs from the Complexes in area of responsibility to enable the formulation of the annual training plan and providing input into the Annual Training Plan and Workplace Skills Plan.
    • Ensuring that course schedules in area of responsibility are developed, loaded, published and available for bookings to be scheduled on SAP and that training materials and assessments are prepared for each training intervention.
    • Ensuring that a fixed asset register is maintained, and that equipment, tools and materials used in training are properly maintained and available.
    • Conducting reviews to identify opportunities to optimise processes and systems by reviewing own system and consulting with the team and providing feedback to the HRD Superintendent.
    • Ongoing engagement with internal stakeholders on their needs and keeping up with external development within the field to ensure that internal processes keep up and meet customer needs.
    • Engaging and liaising with Safety Discipline Supervisors, Middle Management and Development Committee Members to ensure that training materials are reviewed, meeting the skills and competency requirements and addressing organisational and safety challenges and changes.
    • Ensuring that materials, assessment guides and tests are aligned with Glencore Coal SA\s Quality Management Systema (QMS), SETA & QCTO requirements.
    • Ensuring that pre-training assessments, training delivery assessments and moderation are conducted in line with internal procedures, SETA & QCTO requirements.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Relevant Tertiary Qualification.
    • Opencast Blasting Certificate for Coal Mines.
    • Assessor Certificate.
    • Moderator Certificate.
    • Driver’s License (Code EB/08).

    Minimum Experience

    • Minimum 5 years mining industry experience, 2 of which must be at least at an Assistant Training Officer level.
    • Good understanding of the business processes and policies related to the blasting practices.
    • Good understand of the Skills Development Action, Sector Education & Training Authority (SETA/MQA) and Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO).
    • MS Office proficiency.

    Behaviour Competencies:

    • Ability to drill into the detail of issues to determine root cause whilst considering urgency, importance, risk and reward factors.
    • Ability to take the lead, set objectives, sequence processes/initiatives/projects and organise resources to manage risk and achieve objectives.

    Artisan Coordinator (Engineering) Jnr - C4+10%

    In this role you will be responsible for:

    • Overseeing the maintenance team and Contractors conducting plant maintenance
    • Planning, organizing, leading and controlling scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities
    • Conducting planned task observations (PTO) and Safety Interactions (SI)
    • Enforcing and ensuring adherence to Health, Safety and Environmental standards and housekeeping.
    • Continuous improvement of plant equipment to reach production targets.

    About you:

    • Recognised Trade Test Certificate (Mechanical) & N2 with relevant trade subjects
    • 5 Years’ working experience in a mining / plant environment
    • Must have a valid driver’s license
    • Medically fit
    • Exceptional leadership and problem-solving skills
    • Drive, tenacity, resilience to reach goals / deadlines
    • Analytical and objective, factual reasoning
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Must be able to work overtime from time to time
    • Ability to compile safe work procedures for engineering tasks
    • Able to identify hazards associated with a task (HIRA).
    • Ability to work both independently as well as in a team.
    • Able to train subordinates (mainly artisans and assistants) in safe work procedures and Rhovan’ s codes of practice
    • Proven experience or must have acted as an Engineering Supervisor in a Mining / Heavy industry

    Familiar with the Mine health and Safety Act and requirements (Act 29 of 1996).
