    1430 Senior Lecturer/Lecturer: Business Support Studies

    Main purpose of the job

    • To develop academic material and lecture in allocated subjects for own and other programmes and to execute appropriate community projects

    Main tasks

    • Teaching, learning and assessment (10-50%)
    •  Student Evaluation (10%)
    • Research (10 – 50%)
    •  Administration (10 – 15%)
    • Control and Organisation (10%)
    •  Community Service (10%)

    Subject fields(s)

    • Project Management Process, Project Scheduling, Project Risk, Project Cost Management, Project Procurement, Project Research, Project Human Resources Management, Project Quality Management, Project Ethics, Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship.

    Minimum Qualification/ Knowledge and/or

    Experience

    To be appointed as Senior Lecturer:

    • A relevant Doctorate level degree (i.e. D Tech / PhD/ NQF 10 or equivalent)
    • At least four years’ teaching / lecturing experience in the relevant subject field

    Evidence of research output, post-graduate supervision and presentations at national and international conference in line with CUT’s promotion requirements which requires:

    • 1.5 credit outputs (books, chapters in books, articles in accredited journals, papers published in peer-reviewed conference proceedings, patents, etc.)
    • Two completed master’s degrees as co-supervisor; or one completed master’s degree as supervisor. (Not applicable if the applicant already has a minimum of 2.0
    • publication, research or innovation credit outputs at Lecturer level)
    • Four cumulative presentations/papers at conferences, of which at one should be an international presentation/paper (international conferences
    • Involvement in at least one community project (related to teaching and research and innovation curriculum).

    To be appointed as Lecturer:

    • A relevant Master’s-level degree (i.e. M Tech / Masters / NQF 9 or equivalent)
    • At least two years’ teaching/lecturing/industry experience relevant to the subject field(s)

    Desired Qualification, Knowledge And/Or Experience

    To be appointed as Lecturer:

    •  Progress towards a relevant Doctorate level degree
    •  Evidence of research output (One credit output in accredited journals/book chapters and 2 cumulative papers presented at national/international conferences)

    Nature of appointment

    Remuneration
    The hourly rate of payment depends on the part-time lecturer’s qualifications and experience.

    • The format of lectures can be expected to be face-to-face, via remote teaching, or a combination/hybrid format. Facilitation and assessment formats will be subject to change on short notice.
    •  Lecturers will be expected to have their own laptop computer.
    •  Successful applicants will be required to lecture on the relevant CUT campus and will be required to be available at
    •  The assigned subject’s scheduled class hours, which may include work in the evening.

    Minimum and Desired Qualification/ Knowledge and/or

    Experience

    •  An appropriate B Tech / Honours, Master’s, or Doctorate degree (depending on the level of presentation)
    •  Previous lecturing experience will serve as a recommendation.
    •  Experience with electronic education (Blackboard) is recommended.
    •  Registered with the HPCSA with relevant category

    • Registered with the HPCSA as a Dental Practitioner/Dental Therapist/Oral Hygienist

    To be appointed as Senior Lecturer:

    • A relevant Doctorate level degree (PhD) in a Dental related field.
    • At least four years’ lecturing/teaching experience in the relevant subject fields.
