    Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer/ Associate Professor in the Faculty of Pharmacy

    Main Objectives

    • All academics are responsible for disseminating knowledge (teaching and learning), creating knowledge (research), and engaging in community engagement, recognizing differences in the execution of these responsibilities within academic departments and faculties. Academics are also expected to assume some administrative, management, and/or leadership duties at the departmental, Faculty, and/or University level and contribute (s) to their profession.

    The Requirements

    Lecturer

    • MSc, MSc (Med), MPharm, MSc (Pharm) degree in Pharmacology or related field.
    • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a pharmacist or with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa.
    • Tutoring or facilitation experience is required.
    • Experience in teaching in the following disciplinary areas: Clinical Pharmacy, Pathophysiology, and Pathology will be an advantage.
    • No research supervision is required.
    • Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be formal or informal).
    • No emerging national profile in discipline is required.

    Senior Lecturer

    • PhD degree in Pharmacology or a related field is preferred.
    • Candidates with a Master’s degree in Pharmacology or a related field with significant progress toward a PhD will be considered.
    • Progress implies intended submission within the next 12 months.
    • PLUS Experience: Usually 7 to 10 years of teaching experience. OR 7 to 10 years of professional experience in a health or medicines-related field
    • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a pharmacist or with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa.
    • Teaching experience in Pharmacology at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels using appropriate teaching, learning support, assessment methods, and technologies is required.
    • Experience in teaching in the following disciplinary areas: Clinical Pharmacy, Pathophysiology, and Pathology will be an advantage.
    • Experience in teaching other relevant and related areas of Pharmacology will be an advantage.
    • Good research supervision of at least Masters’ degrees is required.
    • Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be formal or informal).
    • Emerging national profile in the discipline.

    Associate Professor

    • PhD degree in Pharmacology or related biomedical field. PLUS Experience: Usually 7 to 10 years of teaching experience. OR 7 to 10 years of professional experience in a health or medicines-related field.
    • Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a pharmacist or with the Health Professionals Council of South Africa.
    • Teaching experience in Pharmacology at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels using appropriate teaching, learning support, assessment methods and technologies is required.
    • Experience in teaching in the following disciplinary areas: Clinical Pharmacy, Pathophysiology, and Pathology will be an advantage.
    • Experience in teaching other relevant and related areas of Pharmacology will be an advantage.
    • Good research supervision of at least Masters’ and PhD degrees required. Participating in collaborative research projects would be an advantage.
    • Track record of administration, management, and/or leadership roles (leadership roles may be formal or informal).
    • National and emerging international profile in the discipline based on research outputs and ability to secure research funding.

    Lecturer (nGap) Department of Computer Science

    Main Objectives

    • Tutoring, facilitation, or conference presentation experience required.
    • No teaching experience is required, but teaching experience in a technical area of Computer Science, including programming, will be an advantage.
    • No research supervision is required.
    • Emerging track record of research publication and/or conference presentations

    Conference and Events Co-Ordinator II

    Main Objectives

    • To provide a support mechanism and structure that enables a comprehensive and efficiently administered profit-making sector to the University through the media of conferences, events and any other related matters.

    The Requirements

    • Grade 12 plus approximately 6 years’ relevant experience, where such experience includes: -
    • Previous experience managing and organising conferences & events, and/or working in the conference industry.
    • Previous experience in budget management and reconciliation of accounts.
    • Previous experience in working with computers, particularly Word and Excel.
    • The ability to work on the internet and email is essential.
    • Previous experience of working with databases will be an advantage.
    • A valid code 8 driver’s license

    Supervisor: Horticulture

    Main Objectives

    • To supervise workers and teams that are engaged in the maintenance of all Horticultural aspects of the garden maintenance unit in the grounds & Gardens Section to ensure a clean and aesthetically pleasing campus by upholding sound and acceptable Horticultural practice.

    The Requirements

    • Grade 12 plus approximately 4 years’ relevant experience where such experience includes: -
    • Previous experience in practical areas of general garden maintenance
    • Previous experience in operating mechanical tools of the trade
    • A code 10 driving license
    • Previous supervision experience (at least 2 years)
    • Previous experience having worked in an industrial environment

    Readvertisement: Principal Librarian: Metadata and Data Curation

    Main Objectives

    • Identifies and creates appropriate knowledge structures, and oversees the creation, management, and maintenance of metadata within the Rhodes University Library Services.
    • This role plays a crucial part in ensuring data integrity, data curation, accessibility, and discoverability for various data assets, including research outputs, primary and secondary resources.
    • The Metadata Curation Manager leads a team of metadata specialists and collaborates with cross-functional teams to support the organisation's data management and analysis efforts.

    The Requirements

    • A Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science (NQF level 8) OR a 3-year Degree, plus a 1-year Post-Graduate Library Diploma (NQF level 8) plus approximately 8 years’ relevant experience where such experience includes: -
    • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in metadata creation in an academic and/or research library
    • NACO trained (authority record creation)
    • At least 3 years’ previous supervision experience.
    • Familiar with XML, MODS, Dublin Core and MarcEdit
    • Project Management experience
