    Portfolio Insights Analyst

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent 3-year degree/NQF Level 7 (with Statistical and Data Analysis focus)
    • Portfolio Management and / or Accounting and / or IT & Technology development to drive business applications
    • Formal Microsoft and / or similar related certifications will be an advantage.

    KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum of 5-8 years’ experience in data analysis or portfolio management
    • Knowledge and experience in Business Intelligence reporting, working with databases and data warehouse environments, with accurate data and information
    • Knowledge and experience in performing analytical assessments
    • Knowledge and experience of CSG & PICSS (or similar) internal processes, systems, and procedures
    • Demonstratable experience in working with appropriate tools, technology, methodologies, and best business practice

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Start to take on a leadership role by contributing to the Portfolio Insights Function, taking the lead in tasks and representing the Department.
    • Contribute & support the development of the Portfolio Insight Function Strategy and Plan

    Analysis and Insights Generation

    • Identify data sources to perform analyses
    • Compile data models to perform analyses
    • Verifying the integrity of data to ensure completeness and accuracy

    Dashboard Building on Technology Platforms

    • Non- complex concept design, building and maintain dashboard and provide applicable insights
    • Develop and implement dashboards, analysis [including predictive], standard reports proactive notifications when set tolerance levels are breached
    • Work with the IT teams to understand existing internal tools and data warehouses and to identify data quality and reliability improvements and to establish best practices.

    CSG Performance Tracking

    • Identify challenges in input reports and how to address the issues.
    • Update and enhance input report to enable improved reporting

    CSG (IDC) Technology Platforms and AutomationIdentify the data requirements from SAP and the transformation of data requirements.

    • Power BI, Power Apps & Forms Development
    • Understanding of the IDC data environment
    • Assist in the development of the automation tools required, provide feedback and make edits

    Collateral Management

    • Have a full understanding of the collateral process and be able to provide support on all enquiries to internal stakeholders
    • Prepare draft reports based on analysis performed for various committees
    • Present non-complex presentation/ reports

    CSG and IDC Systems & Procedures and Control Environment

    • Identify and draft the proposed improvements to the existing S&P

    Stakeholders Data, Information Gathering and Reporting (including ad hoc)

    • Compile and review data for shareholder (DTIC) or broader government and other external stakeholders.
    • Develop the approach of compiling unstructured data.
    • Assist in compiling and review data from surveys and other unstructured data sources

    Senior Portfolio Insights Analyst

    QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent 3-year degree/NQF Level 7 (with Statistical and Data Analysis focus)

    • Portfolio Management and / or Accounting and / or IT & Technology development to drive business applications
    • Formal Microsoft and / or similar related certifications will be an advantage.

    KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

    • Minimum of 8 to 10 years’ experience in Data Analysis and / or Portfolio Management
    • Knowledge and experience delivering Business Intelligence reports on time, with accurate data/ information and to the agreed quality levels
    • Knowledge and experience in performing analytical assessment of received information, identifying emerging trends and interpreting future potential meaning and impact on CSG & the organisation.
    • Knowledge and experience in writing Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) for specific KPIs or reports and assist IT in converting these into technical requirements documents to automate the building of reports.
    • Knowledge and experience of CSG & PICSS (or similar) internal processes, systems, and procedures.
    • Knowledge and experience in working with appropriate tools, technology, methodologies, and best business practices.

    Roles and Responsibilities

    The main duties of this role will include, but will not be limited to:

    • Support the Manager and Head in coaching, leading and managing the Portfolio Insight Function
    • Contribute and support the development and Management of the Portfolio Insight Function Strategy and Plan

    Analysis and Insights Generation

    • Provide support and review of data sources, models & analysis.
    • Use Business Intelligence solutions to convey, persuade and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders where relevant.
    • Explanation of complex insights, solutions and Business Intelligence (BI) concepts to internal or external teams.
    • Verifying the integrity of data to ensure completeness and accuracy & create templates for reporting.
    • Extracting, analysing, organizing & processing complex data sets to provide insights that enable better, faster, and more informed decision making within

    CSG & across the organisation.

    • Providing insights that influence the organisations’s performance

    Dashboard Building on Technology Platforms

    • Design, build, implement and maintain complex concept dashboards and provide applicable insights [including predictive] & proactive notifications when set tolerance levels are breached.
    • Provide support, guidance and influence team members, project teams and contractors in building dashboards and other technological solutions.
    • Develop functional specifications for portfolio management systems that integrate with all relevant systems and meet all business requirements.
    • Solutioning of complex challenges that will include leading and working with a multidisciplinary project teams.
    • Understanding of the Business Intelligence & other applicable legislations.
    • Provide support in the procurement of the relevant an updated Business Intelligence Tools and Platforms.

    CSG Performance Tracking

    • Facilitate the creation of the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) model and the required input sources & measures.
    • Interpret the KPI model outputs and provide reporting on it.
    • Provide relevant training on the KPIs models.
    • Trend and pattern analysis on leading and lagging KPIs.
    • Develop mechanism to monitor critical indicators of Business Partners to identify transfer and other triggers.

    CSG (client) Technology Platforms and Automation

    • Review data transformations & provide guidance & enhancement suggestions on the client data environment
    • Compile development specifications and user stories.
    • Perform testing of new developments & provide feedback to developers.
    • Represent CSG in Change Management Forums.
    • Power BI Development and usage of Microsoft suite (Power Apps, Forms).
    • Understanding of leading BI platforms and applications other than Microsoft Power BI.
    • Continuously evaluate existing datacollecting and analytics systems, to ensure automation of processes to simplify access to required data and provide recommendations where necessary.

    Roles and Responsibilities (cont.)

    Collateral Management

    • Have a full understanding of the collateral process & provide support to all stakeholders.
    • Attend to audit queries
    • Enhance the control environment & provide feedback on the collateral status.

    CSG and the Organisations' Systems & Procedures and Control Environment

    • Detailed understanding and influencing of the organisations policies, procedures and strategies and its impact on team, department, division and other areas of the organisations's business.
    • Review and improve the Systems & Procedures (S&Ps) and Policies to improve the control environment.
    • Present the S&Ps at relevant Committees and address any queries and findings with internal and external parties.

    Stakeholders Data, Information Gathering and Reporting (including ad hoc)

    • Develop & maintain good relationships with key internal & external stakeholders and exhibit client values.
    • Take the lead in the approach and compiling data to address stakeholder requirements.
    • Document clear and accurate responses in the correct format.
    • Prepare proposals/submissions/slides and make presentations to inform relevant stakeholders of practices and strategies relating to Business Intelligence tools, reports and insights.
    • Persuading internal and external stakeholders on actions/practices that impact of the financial performance of the client portfolio and balance sheet.
    • Represent the PICSS, CSG and the client at the relevant internal/external engagements.

    Associate: Development Debt Large

    Qualification and Experience

    Qualifications:

    • BCom Accounting with post graduate degree e.g. BCompt (Honours) or BSC engineering or similar 4-year undergraduate qualification with finance experience.
    • CA (SA) would be an advantage

    Knowledge and Experience:

    • The candidate should have at least 5-8 years of relevant experience in post investment monitoring / portfolio management or evidencing experience in managing key aspects of business partner relationships by considering risks, mitigants and protecting financial interests.
    • Experience and knowledge in the portfolio management, restructurings, Due Diligence, drawdowns processes.
    • Accounting / relevant IFRS9, financial modelling and analysis experience will be an added advantageous.
    • Experience in assessing the economic viability of businesses and/or projects
    • Skills in respect of the analysis and interpretation of financial statements
    • Sound knowledge of business and the diversity of risks that may affect businesses
    • Good understanding of different types of security
    • Understanding of Economic trends would be an advantage
    • Project management experience will be advantage.
    • Knowledge and/or understanding of BP strategic diagnostics would be an advantage
    • Sound experience in a financial environment is essential
    • Knowledge and experience on how to help BP’s execute value levers

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Allocation of business partners portfolios to manage, some of which may be complex, technical and/or high value Business Partners.
    • Ensure proper handover of Business Partners from the respective SBU is completed and all key priority and risk arears are discussed during the handover meetings
    • Periodically conduct SPPI (e.g. loans) impairment reviews and timeously prepare Business Partner credit quality assessment reports in accordance with the approved IDC guidelines and policies on allocated portfolio Business Partners.
    • Identify Business Partners, where performance is not at the required level and develop a framework to ensure regular client visits occur and a diagnostic analysis i conducted to identify areas requiring improvement and specialized assistance and intervention.
    • Schedule performance monitoring feedback sessions with investee companies on a regular basis.
    • Ensure that monitoring and counselling services are provided on Value Creation levers in accordance with the Value Creation Plans and that Business Partners meet the contractual and underwriting obligations.
    • Conduct regular client visits and Business Partner reviews including undertaking reviews, application of funds review where applicable and AFS analysis, covenant reviews and assigning of risk rating to Business Partners.
    • Proactively identify early warning signals and initiate appropriate intervention processes where necessary.
    • To ensure that all necessary amendments to contracts during the life span of the Business Partner are timeously and adequately executed.
    • To ensure that all exit processes i.e. early settlement, IRR and other calculations and release of security on allocated portfolio of business partners are properly executed.
    • To promptly monitor and follow-up all payments due to IDC including interest, capital, dividends, fees etc. on allocated portfolio of business partners.
    • To focus on collection inflows from business partners and monitoring forecasts against actual performance.
    • To analyse financial information from allocated business partners on a regular basis and assess the need for initiating intervention based on the analysis.
    • To ensure maximising of IDC value and limiting losses by being considerate of eventual exiting of investments where relevant.
    • To focus on enhanced portfolio management and by focusing on value add and growth of IDC’s clients and optimised cashflow collection, where relevant while at the same time ensuring protection of IDC’s interests.
    • To assist in refining and adopting the evolving debt as set out.
    • From time to time to be involved in department and organisation wide initiatives linked to the department’s function.
    • Prepare portfolio reports as and when required on the portfolio under management and present to all relevant portfolio risk management committees.
    • Prepare and present credit submissions (amendments, condonations, restructurings etc.) to the relevant credit committees.
