    Maintenance Engineer ERP

    Description

    • We’re looking for an experienced and driven Maintenance Engineer to deliver expert, cost-effective engineering support and maintenance services that ensure maximum plant availability — all within a safe, compliant, and high-performance environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    • SHEQ Management: Ensure compliance with the OHS Act and all SHEQ standards. Promote a safety-first culture through training, inspections, and adherence to ISO requirements.
    • Plant & Equipment Reliability: Lead preventative and predictive maintenance strategies, reduce downtime, and drive root cause analyses for sustainable performance improvements.
    • Maintenance Planning & Execution: Oversee long- and short-term maintenance planning, manage shutdowns, allocate resources, and ensure tasks are completed safely and effectively.
    • Project & Contractor Management: Manage capital and renewal projects, define scope of work, assess contractors, and ensure delivery within timelines and budget.
    • Budget & Cost Control: Contribute to and manage budgets, control expenditure, identify cost-saving initiatives, and ensure financial accountability across maintenance activities.
    • Data & Systems Reporting: Utilize SAP PM and maintenance dashboards to monitor equipment performance, ensure data accuracy, and provide regular reports to engineering leadership.
    • Team Leadership & Development: Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team, manage performance, support succession planning, and promote technical growth and capability building.
    • Stakeholder Engagement & Continuous Improvement: Collaborate across departments, support Lean and ESD initiatives, and lead continuous improvement in equipment reliability and engineering practices.

    Minimum Requirements

    • BSc, BEng, BTech, or Advanced Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
    • 5–10 years of engineering experience in a heavy industry or manufacturing environment
    • Experience in a leadership role managing multidisciplinary maintenance teams
    • Government Certificate of Competency (Factories) will be an added advantage
    • MDP or equivalent qualification will be an added advantage

    Environmental Manager - Mpumalanga

    • We’re on the lookout for an experienced Environmental  Manager - Mpumalanga to provide Sappi Forests' with environmental knowledge, thereby enabling it to manage its environmental performance to international standards and thus achieve FSC and PEFC certification and accreditation to other relevant standards.

    As an Environmental  Manager, you will be responsible for:

    • Identify, assesses and evaluate the potential environmental risk to Sappi Forests' through the risk assessment process to recommend mitigatory actions to manage these risks
    • Investigate current impacts of forestry operations on the environment by assessing and analysing audit and assessment information to reduce and minimise these impacts.  
    • Conduct internal environmental audits through a standard audit process to identify conformance with environmental policies and procedures
    • Develop strategic and tactical plans (weeding plans, environmental burning programmes, catchment management plans etc) for districts and plantations   by providing technical environmental knowledge to ensure environmental standards are maintained
    • Provide technical input to EIA's, wetland delineation, weed control, problem animal control, burning of permanently unplanted areas, waste management and any other activity by applying environmental knowledge and expertise to ensure that forestry activities are legally compliant 
    • Provide technical environmental support by liaising with managers in preparation for and during external (FSC and PEFC) audits to ensure certification is maintained
    • Maintain and promote environmental awareness to internal and external stakeholders through regular consultation and environmental reporting to keep stakeholders informed
    • Participate in government/NGO initiatives by contributing and participating in broader landscape projects that promote Sappi as a responsible custodian of land (Stewardship, catchment management programmes) 
    • Provide technical environmental knowledge by contributing to technical working groups to guide the development and implementation of forestry-related regulations and certification standards

    What are we looking for?

    • An MSc degree  in the natural sciences of Botany, Zoology, or Environmental Management
    • Registered with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP)
    • 5 years relevant experience
    • Valid Driver’s license

    Accounts Payable Administrator

    Description

    We are hiring! 

    • We're on the lookout for an Accounts Payable Administrator to accurately process invoices to pay vendors on time for goods and services supplied to Sappi.   

    As an Accounts Payable Administrator, you will be responsible to :

    • Verify all invoices received via e-invoice system in terms of SARS requirements 
    • Review all invoices that do not pass through the 3-way match and investigate the reason for non-posting  
    • Follow up on overdue workflows, clarify and rectify the reason for the delay
    • Manage incoming e-mails and telephone calls from vendors regarding queries related to payment processes/invoices
    • Execute and review payment proposals on SAP ensuring that the correct parameters are used 
    • Analyse in depth vendor accounts to identify aged items appearing on the GRIR reports to identify possible items for write back
    • Prepare monthly reconciliations for vendors as per the category requirements - this includes reconciliations required for GRIR clearing and audit requirements (External and Internal) 
    • Perform the operational testing required when any financial system is upgraded/changed
    • Maintain and update the four week rolling cash flow for FEC, CFC and SES and submit to supervisors weekly 
    • Ensuring that Open Credit Memos and Duplicate Tracker Payments are resolved on Celonis timeously
    • Adhoc services include but are not limited to General Accounts and Fixed Assets

    What are we looking for? 

    • Grade 12 certificate with a recently completed Diploma / Degree in Finance 
    • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in an Accounting environment
    • SAP experience
    • MS Office (advanced Excel skills)

    Engineer: Technical Support Reliability (Condition Monitoring)

    • We’re on the lookout for an experienced Technical Support Engineer: Reliability Primary with Focus Condition Monitoring and associated Technology to apply analysis methods to determine the reliability of components, equipment, and processes of the Mill’s operations, developing and implementing strategies, making recommendations that will improve equipment reliability, maintenance effectiveness and asset standardization by identifying and managing asset reliability risks, namely Loss Elimination, Risk Management and Life Cycle Asset Management.

    As a Technical Support Engineer: Reliability, you will be responsible for:

    • Monitor and refine the asset maintenance plan that includes value-added preventive maintenance tasks; appropriately and effective deploy and monitor the utilisation of predictive, proactive, condition-based, and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems
    • Primary focus on continous development and deployment of Asset Condition Monitoring and associated Technologies enhancing the departments value offering to the mill. 
    • Drive and further develop SAP utilisation and maturity and enable adherence to maintenance standards and business processes with a special focus on asset utilisation, planning and scheduling preparation, and maintenance execution
    • Undertake detailed analysis of the plant/assets to develop and enhance strategies and recommendations that will improve the reliability and performance of the plant, system, maintenance effectiveness, and optimising life cycle costs
    • Collaborate with maintenance teams to develop, maintain, and compile asset reliability, criticality, and condition information necessary for the asset planning, delivery and maintenance strategies as well as capital spending
    • Responsible for the development and maintenance of the relevant statutory documentation and standards
    • Assist the maintenance planning team to develop effective asset care strategies, standards, schedules, and task instructions, through accurate data analysis and reporting
    • Develop engineering solutions and drive the implementation thereof, for repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include safety, capacity, run rate, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues using renewal or maintenance capital funds
    • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment through compliance with legal regulations and mill procedures
    • Participate in compiling and implementing annual and long-term (5-year plan) financial business plans to execute the maintenance and improvement strategy

     What are we looking for?

    • Relevant NQF level 7 qualification (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Engineering degree or related equivalent)
    • Government certificate of competence (Factories) considered advantageous
    • MDP or relevant management qualification advantageous
    • At least 5 years of relevant experience in a heavy industry environment and or completed structured EIT programme
    • Pulp and paper experience will be considered advantageous
    • Vibration I,II, III qualification will be advantageous
    • Good knowledge in Reliability disciplines i.e. RCM, FMEA, FMECA, RCA, etc.
    • Continuous professional development towards ECSA, SAAMA etc. registration advantageous

    Senior Finance Officer

    • This role supports the month-end close process, ensures compliance with internal controls and policies, and provides timely and accurate financial information to stakeholders.

    As a Senior Finance Officer, you will be responsible to:  

    • Supervise, mentor, and manage the performance of a respective finance team. 
    • Provide coaching and guidance to direct reports to enhance their performance and ensure they meet set standards. This include conducting performance reviews, having development conversations, and reviewing their development plans.
    • Perform accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, including verifying, creating, changing and posting invoices and journals.
    • Conduct thorough and regular reconciliations of various accounts, including general ledger accounts, bank accounts, and sub-ledgers, to identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies.
    • Run, extract, and analyse various reports from SAP, exporting data to MS Excel for further review and submission to management and other departments. 
    • Ensure strict adherence to company policies, procedures, and internal controls (e.g., ,POPIA, IFRS).
    • Following up on uncleared transactions, investigating variances in reports, and providing guidance and solutions to both internal departments and external stakeholders.  
    • Assisting with ad-hoc general finance related queries.

    What are we looking for? 

    • A relevant 3-year diploma or degree in Accounting (NQF 6) is essential. An NQF 7 degree in Accounting will be an advantage. 
    • A minimum of 3 to 5 years years of relevant experience in a financial or accounting environment. 
    • MS Office with advanced competency in excel 
    • SAP certification preferable and any related information systems.
    • Understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) will be advantageous.

    Engineer: Process

    As a Process Engineer, you will be responsible for:

    • Process development and optimisation.
    • Managing projects from inception to implementation including commissioning of new equipment.
    • Updating, publishing and communicating process flow diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams, functional design specifications and mass and energy balances. 
    • Updating product specifications for the area and communicating to plant personnel.
    • Reviewing start-up and shut down procedures, best operating practices and training manuals. 
    • High level trouble shooting.
    • Root cause failure analysis and close outs.
    • Developing high level process designs. 
    • Carrying out and participating in feasibility studies. 
    • Leading design review meetings and conduct peer reviews of new designs.
    • Creating an understanding of environmental standards and engineer improvements with current and future legislative requirements in mind.

    What are we looking for?

    • BSc Chemical Engineering Degree.
    • At least 5 years’ experience as a Process Engineer in a manufacturing / heavy industry environment.
    • Experience in the Pulp & Paper industry would be an advantage.
    • Registration as a Professional Engineer is an added advantage.
    • SAP experience preferred.
