    Job description

    In this role you will apply your knowledge of geospatial and mapping processes and technologies to floodplain mapping, emergency management and disaster related services. Our ideal candidate will have education and experience with geospatial analysis and mapping processes and GIS software and technologies.

    Job Details

    • Perform work which involves conventional GIS tasks requiring the use of analysis, interpretation, and deductive reasoning to carry out diversified projects or phases of a single project.
    • Produce GIS databases and maps to represent hydrologic and hydraulic data into FEMA’s Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs).
    • Produce maps and related materials for various meetings; Ability to research key information from client and corporate databases and prepare consistent production files for flood mapping projects.
    • Utilize a variety of computer software, especially GIS, to reconcile information from various sources and produce FEMA Risk MAP draft and final products.
    • Perform spatial analysis for flood hazard risk assessments.

    Qualifications

    • Familiarity with GIS technology and ArcGIS software packages required.
    • Good interpersonal and computer skills and capable of developing technical writing and communication skills.
    • Willingness to travel for an extended period of time during a disaster response period is preferred.

    Requirements

    • As the successful candidate will be providing services on a federal contract, you must be a US citizen to apply for this position.
    • You will also need to pass the Public Trust background check including credit and criminal history.

    Education

    B.S. or B.A. in Geography, Computer Science or related GIS Environmental Discipline, commensurate with hiring discipline. Minimal experience is required of incumbents with directly related Bachelor's Degree; no experience required with a Master's degree.
