    Chief Financial Officer

    Job description

    Tencent Africa Services (Pty) Ltd is looking to recruit a Chief Financial Officer to join the team.

    The position is unique in that it allows the freedom of a start-up, but is backed by a listed entity. The role encompasses a strategic financial angle, as well as human resources and wellness.

    What you will be required to perform:

    The CFO is accountable for the administrative, human resources, financial and risk management operations of the Company. Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates and directs the Company's fiscal functions from every relevant perspective. This includes the development of financial strategies, metrics tied to that strategy and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. The CFO acts as a strategic business partner to the CEO to guide and build value in the Company and provide support to the Board of Directors and Shareholders as required.

    • Contribute towards formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives
    • Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans
    • Develop financial, tax, funding and investment strategies
    • Manage the capital requests and budgeting processes
    • Develop financial performance measures that support the company's strategic direction
    • Co-ordinate the preparation of financial statements, reports, analyses and information
    • Provides timeous, accurate analysis of budgets and financial reports to assist the CEO and all other executives with their responsibilities
    • Oversees completion of annual audited financial statements
    • Provides strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the Company. These include but are not limited to: Growth, new markets, evaluation of potential alliances, negotiate acquisitions, compile business models and conduct due diligence, employee rewards and recognition, remuneration and benefits
    • Develops reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash thresholds to meet the operating needs of the Company
    • Ensures compliance with all legislated financial, commercial and tax requirements
    • Understand and mitigate key elements of the Company's risk profile
    • Monitor all regulatory issues involving the Company and legal issues affecting the industry
    • Ensure reliable control mechanisms are in place in all areas of finance and legal compliance to mitigate risk in these areas

    Requirements:

    The ideal candidate will have the following competencies:

    • CA(SA) – non-negotiable
    • At least 5 years’ experience in a strategic and operational role as either CFO / Finance Business Partner / Commercial Manager / Group FM / Head of Finance / Finance Executive or similar.

    A proven track record of the following:

    • Strong financial acumen
    • Strong business acumen
    • Experience in facilitating Board and Exco presentations
    • Input in contractual agreements and compliance
    • Comfortable working in a constantly changing environment
    • Change management
    • Self-starter and coordinator
    • Enthusiastic, driven, a need to achieve
    • Pro-active and confident
    • Strong inter-personal skills and high EQ
    • Ability to influence strategic decision-makers including shareholders’ decision-making through relevant financial analysis
