Key Responsibilities:

Sanlam Private Wealth, a leading South African wealth manager and investment house, is seeking an experienced individual for an equity role:

• Conduct valuations and financial modelling on companies, including:
• Detailed financial analysis of the fundamental drivers of companies
• In-depth evaluation of balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements and statements of changes in equity
• Quantifying risks related to companies
• Determining the intrinsic value of companies based on the above analysis
• Evaluate the impact of changes in macro variables and their implications on the risk and return profile of securities, including:
• Evaluating local and global developments and trends within specific industries and quantifying their implications with regard to future risk and returns of securities
• Communicate findings and investments recommendations via written reports and formal presentations
• Provide detailed industry analysis in order to rank companies within an industry in terms of the prospective risk / return characteristics
• Engage in generation of investment ideas to be incorporated in the investment portfolios of clients

Minimum Requirements:

Preference for CA and CFA level 3 or B Com Honours in Investment Finance or Accountancy and CFA level 3

Technical Competencies:

• 5-8 years’ experience within an asset management or investment banking environment
• Experience in the analysis of resource and mining companies preferred
• Good working knowledge of key commercial statutes such as those relating to tax, the Companies Act and Regulation 28
• Advanced financial modelling and Excel skills
• Ability to use terminal services such as Bloomberg, Inet and Reuters
