Job Summary Statement

The Aveng Group is a leading infrastructure development group with strong presence and expertise in over 25 markets across the globe. It provides a diverse range of services, products and solutions in engineering, construction, mining, steel and manufacturing.
The incumbent, reporting to the Group Financial Controller, will be responsible for managing the Group Reporting function, which includes the preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly and mid-year financial reports as well as year-end financial reports for review and approval. Along with the preparation of financial reports, this position is responsible for the preparation, coordination and submission of the annual Integrated Report for review and approval.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):

•  Prepare and provide consolidated financial results of the Aveng Group for approval as per company reporting requirements and standards
•  Ensure financial governance, internal controls and compliance to the Group’s standards and reporting requirements are achieved within specific timelines
•  Provide support with the preparation of the Groups published results
•  Responsible for the provision of an analytical and advisory service to senior management in terms of financial trends and anomalies
•  Keep up to date with industry accounting / International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) developments as well as Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) reporting requirements and advise changes where required
•  Manage the financial reporting team

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

•  Relevant Bachelor’s Degree – Accounting / Financial Management is essential
•  CA (SA)

EXPERIENCE:

 At least 10 years related work experience in a financial reporting role, which includes the preparation of financial statements for a listed company

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

•  Advanced Excel skills
•  Good knowledge of Financial systems environment and understanding of the interaction between different modules and functional areas
•  Detailed understanding of Company reporting requirements
• •Sound knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Tax, Companies Act and Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) listing requirements
•  Implementation of financial accounting philosophy and measurements within operational environments
•  Knowledge of the construction / mining industry or similar related industries
