    Supply Chain Manager - Import Sales

    BASIC PURPOSE/SCOPE

    The Imports Manager has the overall responsibility for the management and coordination of all daily import/export logistics which will reach $500 Million in Sales by 2020. This position manages and maintains lines of communication between Mexico and Bimbo Bakeries USA (BBU). This includes managing the activities to include, special projects, new initiatives/products, holiday scheduling to insure efficient and effective supply chain network meeting the needs of our customers.

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • Responsible for maintaining and overseeing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensuring compliance at the Business Unit (BU) level through the Import Coordinator team. Interacts internally with Import Coordinators in BBU to ensure that they are apprised of new product initiatives, holiday schedules, transport issues, etc. Directly responsible to manage and coordinate all activities between BBU and Importers (Mexico, Peru, etc.).
    • Logistics/Distribution Services to include managing the performance of logistics providers, freight forwarders and other supply chain partners (Custom Brokers, Exporting Plants, etc.) to ensure that current needs are met and that services provided continuously improve. Participate in decision making, appointment of, and management of international third party logistics service providers in Import/Export. Manage international air, ocean, ground, and express vendors while monitoring and optimizing load efficiencies & documentation. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with vendors and maintain the required KPIs and service level metrics. Resolve logistics issues and escalate when necessary. Manage and ensure accurate/timely communication to the organization of issues/corrective actions.
    • Customer Service to include develop resources, negotiate with and develop strategic partnerships with internal & external customers. Functions as the local expert and resource for Import/Export control and compliance matters. Acts as the first line of compliance in the Import/Export process and raises issues beyond personal expertise to the appropriate internal departments for review and decisions. Manage and ensure that proper/timely implementation of import documentation, agreements & government regulations are in order. Manage BBU C-TPAC certification and registration policies. Develops an understanding of internal and external customer needs, provide solutions and take actions to ensure that such needs are met. Communicate daily/weekly with Import Coordinators and manage ordering documents. Manage and provide backup for the control order desk process.
    • Strategic Planning to include managing & supporting a team of Import Coordinators across BBU. View and, on an exception basis, manage the critical path, reporting and performance on a daily basis. Manage compliance matters to ensure that they are implemented & updated with supply chain partners, exporting plants, 3rd party carriers, FDA, CBP, C-TPAT, etc. Outline requirements of the Import/Export regulations with regional supply planner team. Initiatives to reduce BBU spend on freight and compliance while maintaining or improving on-time delivery performance and compliance with import/export regulations. This involves defining and implementing the necessary process and systems infrastructure. Define and implement logistics strategy to deliver best performance at best cost. Implementation of KPI’s that can improve systems for forecasting and tracking costs associated with freight, distribution, cost of goods, etc. Lead evaluation, selection and startup/transition of new carriers, working with operations, finance, legal personnel and exporting plants.

    Position Requirements

    EDUCATION

     BA/BS in Business and/or Supply Chain Logistics highly preferred.

    Experience

    •  Minimum of 5-7 years of Import/Export management experience required.
    •  Must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
    •  Proven experience in Shipping, IT process, NAFTA & FDA regulations, International Trading, and Mexico’s operations.
    •  Must be computer proficient in Microsoft programs, Demand Planning, and data information systems.
    •  Must possess proven management skills, interpersonal skills, as well as superior verbal, written and presentation skills.
    •  5-7 years Supply Chain Logistics management experience with demonstrated significant accomplishments.
    •  Knowledge of DSD operations, imports, and export are a plus.
    •  Minimal travel required: 10% to 15%
