Job description

PURPOSE: 

• subject the professional-in-training to a structured development programme during which time the occupant will learn and adopt core and critical skills in the relevant discipline.
• To prepare the occupant to register as a professional at the relevant professional body.
• To qualify him/her to meet the necessary inherent job requirements of permanent positions should this become available in the third year of their programme.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Information Technology (Hons) (Essential/Minimum)
• Bachelor of Science in Information Technology - Knowledge Systems (Hons) (Essential/Minimum)
• BSc - Computer Science (Hons) (Essential/Minimum)
• BEng - Electronic Engineering (Essential/Minimum)
• BEng - Computer Engineering (Essential/Minimum)

Experience:

0-2 years Relevant experience in any mining or related industry would be an advantage - Recommended/Desirable - Operational

Requirements

• Psychometric Assessment - Essential/Minimum
• Certificate of Fitness - Essential/Minimum

Job Outputs

The incumbent will inter alia be responsible for the following:

• Structured Development Programme
• Adhere to and follow the guidelines in the Structured Development Plan (SDP) diligently
• Accept redeployment to another BU if so required by the company (Limpopo and Mpumalanga)
• For mechanical, electrical and mining disciplines enrolment and completion of the relevant GCC/MMCC program
• Take ownership of your own development.

Performance management

• Ensure that a performance review template exist
• Understand the content and evaluation methodology
• Attend (at least) the six monthly performance review discussion with the centre coach.
• end the annual PIT symposium.

Reporting

• Compile and submit quarterly progress reports for evaluation by the PIT coach, mine manager and coordinating mentor
• Adhere to the timelines set for submission
• Submit reports for the full 36 months even if appointed in a permanent position
• Timeous submission of MQA quarterly progress reports.

Safe & Healthy Work Environment

• Maintain and ensure a healthy environment, safe operations and practices
• Ensure compliance with all applicable SHE policies and procedures in line with set standards

• Provide support to project teams and operations
• Generate project ideas that adds value to operations
• Participate in and attend technical meetings and task teams
• Provide technical input
• Recognise, understand & propose actions to mitigate risks
• Conduct trouble-shooting in order to identify root cause of substandard conditions/processes
• Initiate continuous improvement initiatives that leads to cost saving opportunities
• Comply with corporate strategy, legal and other requirements
• Conduct research work
• Participate in knowledge sharing initiatives.
