Job description

Duties / Responsibilities:

• Manage activities of maintenance staff and contractors at both Modderfontein and Lilianton sites.
• Ensure safe operation of equipment and legal compliance.
• Responsible for Maintenance planning and execution.
• Responsible for Management of Change process for all engineering disciplines: process, electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, etc. and ensure compliance thereto.
• Compile and track maintenance budget.
• People management and development.
• Implement a Preventative Maintenance Management system for Nulandis.
• Provide technical expertise and knowledge for the various processes for efficient operation of plant and equipment.
• Minimize plant downtime through effective maintenance planning, preventative and predictive maintenance.
• Ensure full compliance with OHS Act, Engineering and safety, health and environment standards.
• Responsible person: GMR 2(1) as per OHS Act for both Modderfontein and Lilianton Sites.
• Lead and manage plant improvement, sustenance, compliance and business improvement projects.
• Ensure that Process Safety Management (PSM) principals are adhered to in all operational areas.
• Manage critical plant spares and inventory.
• Active role player in SHEQ, ensuring safe practices and principles are maintained.
• Provide technical support to Production team to ensure NOx scrubbers are operated within compliance limits. Also calculate efficiencies of NOx scrubbers.

Qualifications / Experience:

• Matric with Maths and Science.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Excellent investigation capability and report writing skills.
• Must be in possession of a valid driver’s license and have own transport.
• Possession of or studying towards a Government Certificate of Competency (Factories) would be advantageous.
• At least 10 years’ experience in a chemical plant environment and/or a proven track record of engineering leadership experience in the maintenance and project management of large utilities and manufacturing plant.
• Knowledge of the OHS Act, Engineering and safety, health and environment standards
• Extensive knowledge of project management and stakeholder relations in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Sound knowledge and understanding of contract management and the provision of services.
• In-depth knowledge and experience in hazard control and risk assessments.
• In-depth knowledge of engineering principles, standards and maintenance management systems (eg. SAP PM) in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in performance management and people development.
• Knowledge of PLC programming & SCADA systems will be an advantage
• Knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM).
