Job Responsibilities

Golder Associates is seeking a Social and Sciences Project Coordinator for Mine Environment Division to manage and co-ordinate effective administration and support of single to multiple integrated projects.

Responsibilities

• Responsibilities will include making travel and meeting arrangements for the project team, preparing reports and project-related financial data and client and stakeholder relations.
• Perform project specific support, including, but not limited to:
• compilation and maintenance of stakeholder databases
• assistance with mail and email merges
• liaison with a wide range of stakeholders representing various sectors of society
• creation and maintenance of project-related e-filing systems
• compilation and coordination of the publication of mandatory advertisements and collection of tearsheets
• placement of public documents, including site notices at public places in project areas, as well as coordinating delivery of said documents to the authorities
• capturing stakeholder comments and social survey data in appropriate MS Office programmes,
• preparation of meeting agendas and presentations,
• compilation of minutes, and
• providing assistance with research as required.
• Provides project support to the larger Mine Environment Group in terms of GIS (including social mapping), biodiversity and atmospheric and energy services including the preparation and control of project records, statistics (e.g. aquabase), reports and documents.
• Schedules appointments, arranges and coordinates logistics for environmental authorisation process events and meetings. Processes various administrative documents and data.
• May assist in basic unit supporting research activities, perform some fiscal support functions, and/or serve as liaison within and outside unit.

Job Requirements

Qualifications And Experience

• Bachelors or Post-Graduate Degree from an accredited institution plus appropriate or continuing education 2 - 5 years’ experience in applicable field of expertise
• Experience working collaboratively in broad range of social and environmental sciences contexts Minimum 2 – 5 years’ experience in a social and environmental management discipline or related field, of which at least two years in a consulting position
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening and questioning skills
• Experience in mining, oil and gas and power sectors
• Thorough understanding of the South African environmental legislation
• Ability to manage professional time and productivity independently in a consulting environment
• Strong work ethic
• Strong social-cultural awareness and well developed emotional intelligence
• Strong health and safety first focus
• Willingness to travel
• MS Word, MS Excel (Advanced), MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook and MS Projects an asset
• Valid South African Driver’s License
• Valid South African Passport
• Willing and able to travel locally and internationally
• Own transport
