    PURPOSE OF THE JOB

    Manageperformance of the credit Analyst in the region by providing leadership, adviceand guidance to enable them to achieve agreed business targets, execute theoverall Credit Strategy and improve their performance in line with businessstrategy and objectives. Manage, oversee and monitor the activities andperformance of the centre from a Credit Risk perspective.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • ExecuteCredit strategy within area of responsibility.
    • Providethe Credit Head with management information relevant to the relevant to thecredit portfolio input on the ARBB Credit Strategy and value-add changeinitiatives with respect to training, portfolio management, people management,policies, procedures , processes and product.
    • Liaisonwith other BU’s to ensure optimal client solutioning at an agreed risk profile.
    • Actas the main management interface regarding operational issues for ARBB Creditin the area of responsibility.
    • Contributeto the development of Credit and the achievement of business objectives
    • Managethe required target values, beliefs and behaviours required to meet theobjectives of BB credit.
    • Reviewand credit enhancement to the business model for the monitoring and controlprocesses with a view to streamlining or automating processes/procedures
    • Workingwith the Manager Relationship Executives, Manager Credit Validation and theManager Operational Bankers to minimise reputational risk to the Bank byenabling the Relationship Executive and Customer Support and Risk Teams to meettheir ongoing compliance and operational responsibility e.g. Financial Crime.Document policy statements as requested by the CCO and Heads of Credit in termsof the approved methodology.
    • Conductcredit assessments and approve requests for clients within an assigneddiscretionary functional mandate.
    • Assiststhe team with the structuring and solutioning of complex credit applications(where appropriate).
    • Ensurereferral of higher risk accounts to Business Support and/or CPF monitoring andControl (in accordance with Business Support and/or CPF monitoring and Controlguidelines), in a timely manner.
    • Recommendand sponsor credit applications to the relevant sanctioning body.
    • Ensureadherence to SLA’s.
    • Ensureappropriate analysis and clarity in respect of required/requested facilities,conditions of sanction monitoring and control etc. Thereby maintaining thequality of the credit risk profile of the portfolio.
    • Responsiblefor team’s Data Quality integrity and for the coordination of any relatedremediation exercise.
    • Developa high performing team by embedding formal performance development and informalcoaching. Encourage frequent knowledge sharing between team members.
    • Determineand analyse development needs for the team and ensure that identified trainingrequirements are budgeted for and executed.
    • Establishand maintain a succession plan for the team.
    • Interviewand recruit new members of the team, including determining appropriatecompensation levels with input from Human Resources.
    • Createeffective workforce and recruitment demand plans to ensure that current andfuture business requirements can be met. Plans should be revised at least twicea year.
    • Reviewand update the department’s organisation structure and role description on atleast an annual basis to ensure that they are fit for purpose and contain allthe accountabilities of each team member.
    • Motivateto and obtain approval from the Head of Credit for any additional headcount forthe team.
    • Approveleave requests for team members and create lleave plan to ensure adequate coverage.
    • Monitorovertime and ensure that it is kept to a minimum. Report excessive overtime tothe Head and create plans to address the issues.
    • Whenrequired, initiate disciplinary processes for team members calling on supportfrom Human Resources when required.
    • Resolvegrievances raised by team members and escalate only if required.
    • Addresspoor performance of any team member through the formal Performance Acceleratorprogramme and ensure that continued poor performance is appropriately dealtwith.
    • Motivateteam members and ensure that their efforts are recognised.
    • Participatein the creation and implementation of Employee Opinion Survey (EOS) actions forthe credit analyst team

    Education And Experiencerequired

    • BDegree in Accounting or equivalent NQF level 6 qualification CAIB
    • CommercialPost Graduate qualification
    • Ten(10) years credit sanctioning experience at a senior level
    • Previousmanagement experience within credit environment
    • Ten(10) years sanctioning under personal mandate in Commercial Businessenvironment
    • Previousbusiness banking experience
    • Holderof a Previous Credit mandate in the ABB Credit environment
