    Lecturer/Senior Lecturer: Demography and Population Studies

    Job description

    We seek to appoint a teacher and researcher with the aspiration to be an academic leader and committed to building one of the premier demographic teaching and research programmes in Southern Africa.   The closing date for applications is 2 April 2018. Appointments are for as soon as is feasible thereafter.  
    Minimum requirements:   ·      

    • An appropriate PhD in demography or population studies.
    • Candidates in the final stages of completing their PhD should be able to provide evidence that it will be complete prior to taking up the position; ·
    • Strong quantitative skills in the analysis of census or survey data.  

    The successful candidate will ideally have:       

    • A record of relevant publications appropriate to the rank being applied for 
    • Up-to-date knowledge of the international academic literature in their field·     
    • The ability to contribute to CARe’s academic objectives by fostering and participating in collaborative research programme of international quality Teaching experience at the postgraduate level, including the supervision of master’s and/or doctoral students      
    • A commitment to innovative teaching.
