Ideally they are looking for someone who is already familiar with a banking environment, but it's not essential so if you're looking to get into the finance industry, keep reading!

You will be responsible for:

• The overall application systems design, balancing requirements against resource utilisation and architectural factors (you'll need to be knowledgeable in all aspects of designing and constructing application systems);
• Developing requirements and design specifications for new and existing applications;
• End to end application solution to guide the solution towards the long term needs of the organisation;
• Areas covered include data, work flow, encompassing applications, hardware platforms, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, output, and the evaluation of 3rd party vendor solutions;
• Serving as a technical design leader in the integration of application solutions and architecturally significant components;
• Carrying out research and consulting industry experts with regard to best practise and technology trends;
• Developing application design guidelines, standards and patterns;
• Giving input into the strategic technology direction of the organisation from an applications perspective; and,
• Setting the future direction and developing the migration plans for the applications to meet the business and architectural objectives of the organisation.

• You need to have previous experience in the banking industry, a certification by domain relevant industry boards / relevant tertiary qualification (2-4 year programme), 5 - 8 years' relevant industry experience as a Solutions Architect and in depth knowledge of your specific focused area of delivery within a cluster.
• It's important that you understand this areas business strategy, operating model, business drivers and impacting legislative requirements, and how this area fits into the larger cluster. You must be able to discuss general business management principles, and have basic compliance assessment training.
• An honours degree (Information systems, computer systems etc.) would be nice, but it's not a must. You will need to be willing to travel locally and sometimes nationally.
