    (1896) National and International Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Cooperation Analyst

    Detailed description

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key performance areas:

    • Coordinate and engage with relevant stakeholders, such as Banking Association South Africa (BASA), Association for Savings and Investment South Africa (ASISA), the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) and the Financial Intelligence Centre (FIC), with regard to the quarterly meetings held, including planning, organising and minute-taking.
    • Review information and new publications issued or received from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and regional FATF- styled bodies such as the Eastern and South African Anti-Money Laundering Group (ESAAMLG), and provide insights in preparation for international and regional meetings. 
    • Coordinate and consolidate inputs from the AML/CFT team pertaining to requests for the completion of AML/CFT/CPF-related questionnaires received from supervisory bodies both local and foreign as well as other international organisations which may from time to time send questionnaires/surveys for completion by the AML/CFT department.
    • Manage information and responses to requests from the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP), the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the United Nations (UN), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and the Common Monetary Area (CMA).

    Qualifications

    Job requirements

    To be considered for this position, candidates must be in possession of:

    • a post-graduate degree in Analytics, Auditing, Data Science, International Law, International Relations, International Security, Law or another field related to financial crime risk; and
    • at least five years of professional experience, including research and analysis experience in the area of AML/CFT/CPF best practice.

    Additional requirements include:

    • industry, organisational and business awareness, knowledge and skill;  
    • data analysis and reporting knowledge and skill; 
    • in-depth technical knowledge;
    • excellent writing skills;
    • good drafting and interpretation of legislation skills;
    • experience in conducting money laundering (ML), terrorist financing (TF) and/or proliferation financing (PF) risk assessments; 
    • ML/TF/PF research and practical experience; and
    • a good understanding of international best practice and technological developments in the AML/CFT sphere.

    The following would be an added advantage:

    • Experience in data mining, modelling, predictive analytics and/or business intelligence reporting.
