The e-Research Administration programme includes a project to implement a selected core software system to support the administration of research projects at UCT. This project requires a contracted systems analyst/functional consultant with relevant skills and experience to support identified aspects of this implementation. Responsibilities will include analysing and documenting business and system requirements for the various aspects of the administration of research outputs and processes, taking ethical and statutory compliance into account. The project team follows a hands-on approach to systems implementation
System Analyst responsibilities include:
- Designing and documenting new or revised functionality
- leading the configuration of the software
- eliciting and documenting user requirements
- performing fit/gap and other comparative analyses
- ensuring that ethical and statutory compliance is taken into account
- cleaning and migrating legacy system data to the new system
- identifying potential improvements to system-based support using the delivered products
- ensuring quality in UCT’s systems through systems and integration testing
- participating in and/or leading implementation and rollout with limited impact
Requirements:
- at least eight years’ relevant business and systems analysis experience
- prior experience of working on systems development and implementation projects
- prior hands-on configuration experience of package or ERP systems
- a sound understanding of reporting and analytics
- prior experience on a portal or web based system implementation
- experience of cleaning and migrating data from legacy systems
- demonstrated ability to provide structured documentation
- a relevant post-secondary qualification at NQF level 7, or NQF level 6 with eight years’ additional relevant experience in a system development and support environment
- having worked in a University or equivalent environment will be advantageous
- an understanding of University Research Administration processes will be advantageous
Salary:
The annual cost of employment for 2016 is between R307 581 and R568 836.
