Job Description

• Be accountable for the health, safety and environmental risks within your area of responsibility during the life cycle of a trial. Ensure that arrangements are in place to ensure the health and safety of employees, contractors, customers and other visitors under your control during the trial life cycle.
• Be accountable for the implementation of Range Procedures and compliance with relevant documentation on the QinetiQ Operating Framework during the trial life cycle.
• Liaise with the customer and coordinate Technical & Safety Reviews of customer requirements with the Project Manager and other specialists.
• Work with the necessary SQEP in order to mitigate and control any special health and safety requirements necessary for the safe conduct of the trial.
• Prepare trials plans, safety traces and associated documentation to conduct the activity.
• Liaise with the Trials Safety Manager to agree the firing safety traces and requesting any additional NOTAMs or Bye-Laws notices necessary for the trial.
• Liaise with appropriate logistics management for preparation of targets, ammo, gun, instrumentation and other associated stores for the activity.
• Maintain all required documentation for each activity, ensuring that details are recorded.

• Essential Education, Qualifications And Training
• Honours degree or equivalent experience in relevant discipline or area of work.

Essential Knowledge, Skills And Experience Required

• Strong technical credentials within the test area. The ideal candidate will have a sound understanding of both aerodynamics and energetic materials, however a sound understanding of one of these areas and an awareness of the other is acceptable.
• Ability to perform complex engineering/technical assignments developing creative, yet practical solutions to customer problems, challenging conventional or traditional methods or procedures where required.
• Ability to lead and co-ordinate a diverse technical/engineering team.
• Ability to work effectively as a team with other business functions such as sales, project management, commercial and governance.
• Ability to effectively communicate with people at all appropriate levels, both internal and external to QinetiQ, including customers, suppliers and other stakeholders.
