    DECEASED ESTATES CONSULTANT

    Job description

    We are currently looking for a Deceased Estates Consultant for our Johannesburg office. Below is a guideline of the role and responsibilities, qualifications and requirements.

    ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Attending to and communicating with clients, beneficiaries, companies, colleagues and deceased's family/heirs, third parties and The Masters Office during estate process and any other interested parties in a confidential, compassionate, sensitive and friendly manner.
    • Preparation, submission and tracking of all documents required by The Masters Office for each stage of the estate process
    • Attending to advertising requirements
    • Closing accounts and notifying relevant third parties
    • Following up on outstanding information/documents from family/heirs/third parties
    • Keeping relevant Executor informed of progress at each stage and keeping file organised and up to date
    • Capturing all relevant data onto the Legal Ease software
    • Attending to drafting and finalising of Liquidation and Distribution accounts
    • Updating cashbooks per bank statements and attending to final reconciliation of accounts for final payment to heirs
    • Attend to all other necessary administration in respect of deceased estates.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Matric Certificate with maths and preferably accounting.
    • Diploma in wills drafting and/or deceased estates administration or legal degree is essential.
    • Diploma or experience in bookkeeping would be an advantage
    • Minimum of 1 – 2 years working experience in estate administration or an administrative role.

    • Good interpersonal and communication skills and excellent written and verbal communication.

    • Ability to be discrete when handling confidential information and exercise good judgement.
    • Willingness to learn and become more efficient and effective towards responsibility.
    • Commitment to offering the highest level of service to clients of the firm.
    • Computer literacy: Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel, LegalEase Software.
