Job description

The role is in the Learning Content team, which specialises in eLearning but also designs and delivers other types of learning as part of blended solutions.

Job purpose:

To take responsibility for producing the graphics for a project ensuring it meets the creative brief set by the Art Director, is of the right quality and is delivered on time and to budget.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:

• Creating graphical assets for projects, to ensure the finished content is fit-for-purpose through:
• Ensuring all graphics are aligned with the Art Direction and client’s branding
• Ensuring proper and timely completion of graphics to meet production deadlines and budgets, identifying potential for re-use of assets and approaches where appropriate.
• Flagging risks and identifying possible mitigations
• Ensuring projects meet quality standards and are delivered on time and to the agreed budgets.
• When required, working with the Learning Designer to develop creative treatments and create art directions, or complete art directions working with an Art Director
• Sales and marketing work:
• Input into pre-sales work to recommend appropriate approaches and provide estimates for sales and production team members; ensuring designs are of a high standard and in line with agreed budgets and objectives
• Taking responsibility for maintaining Kineo graphics standards in all elearning, web and printed materials, including Kineo’s own brand guidelines
• Work on other design tasks such as Kineo marketing materials, website development, products and corporate brochures.
• Quality and innovation:
• Adhere to agreed quality processes, ensuring briefings and reviews for projects take place, assets are managed and all activities comply with ISO quality standards
• Encourage re-use and proactively propose smart and cost effective solutions, while maintaining appropriate levels of creativity
• Stay up to date with creative and technological developments and techniques
• People management:
• Senior designers can line manage and/or coach other members of the team:
• When working with other members of the team, ensure they perform to profitability, quality and utilisation targets
• Line manage, mentor and/or coach members of the team to create a challenging and supportive environment ensuring skills and capabilities move forward, and to ensure a highly motivate and creative workforce
• Engage with others to create a community and team mentality enabling people to feel trusted and supported
• If line managing, ensure that all people management activities – including one-to-ones, PDRs, pay reviews, holiday, absence and utilisation management – and professional development are conducted in accordance with best practice and Kineo policy

Essential

Experience:

• Proven graphic design experience in a digital medium and in a commercial and corporate context; evidence of a strong portfolio of work demonstrating a range of different styles and treatments
• Experience of working as part of a larger team
• Taking and delivering briefs consistently across a multitude of applications, and seeing a project through to final delivery
• Working to fixed budgets and timeframes

Skills and abilities:

• To maintain and push the graphic design standards set at Kineo
• Have the ability to develop an idea quickly while keeping an eye on the project budget
• Having the ability to evaluate and deal responsibly with difficult situations
• Great communication skills – working as a team and selling ideas and concepts

Knowledge:

• Graphics tools such as Flash and Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite – Illustrator, After Effects and InDesign
• Comfortable with other applications such as Microsoft Office
• Commercial awareness and an understanding commercial impact of decisions
