Job purpose and summary

The primary responsibility of the Systems Administrator is providing support, monitoring and maintaining Microsoft & Linux infrastructures, applications and servers.

Duties and responsibilities

• Microsoft Server 2008 and 2012 support and AD user administration
• Microsoft Server 2012 R2 Hyper-V Core administration
• Microsoft domain administration (2012 R2)
• Exchange 2010 administration
• WSUS administration
• SQL Server administration and maintenance
• Windows 7; 8.1 & 10 desktop support
• Microsoft office (all versions) user support
• Linux system administration
• Manage, monitor, and troubleshoot the infrastructure environment (physical and virtual)
• Network architecture design, implementation and support
• VoIP installation and support
• Install, configure and maintain Microsoft servers and services such as Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), Active Directory (AD), Radius Service.
• Install, configure and maintain firewall, VPN & wireless networks (Sophos)
• Coordinate and execute repair and maintenance activities
• Setup and maintain backup protocols for all infrastructure (Altaro)

Minimum requirements

• Grade 12 or equivalent certificate essential; postgraduate qualification preferable
• Relevant qualification (A+, N+, MCSE, LINUX) or proven experience

Skills required

• Excellent understanding of Microsoft domain networks
• Excellent understanding of Exchange
• Excellent understanding of Microsoft Hyper-V
• Excellent networking implementation and troubleshooting skills (TCP/IP)
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Excellent understanding of VoIP systems

Skills advantageous

• Software testing
• An understanding of IBM analytics software such as Modeler and Statistics
• An understanding of SAS
