Job Description

• RCL FOODS is seeking a Planning Manager to join our vibrant Consumer Division. The role will be based in Johannesburg and report to the Supply Chain Executive.

The Planning Manager will be responsible to:

• To balance the incoming supply with both the demand plan and national planning directive and convert this into an achievable production plan that delivers optimal customer service while maximizing profitability and minimizing costs throughout the Outbound Supply Chain.
• To manage the ordering for and physical management of the packaging and ingredients stores as well as associated stock levels (including accuracy and obsolescence).

Skills & Knowledge:

• Supply chain principles, practices and tools.

• Computer literacy (SAP MM, WM and BW and MS Office skills prerequisite).

• 5 years’ experience in the supply chain of which 2 years should be in a management position.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning

• Define the degree of forward planning (0 – 12 months) and execute accordingly.
• Functional Strategy into Action Operationalisation
• Work in conjunction with other Senior Managers in the Outbound Supply Chain team to co-create the outbound strategy, based on a 1-2 year’s view of requirements.
• Facilitate integrated supply chain delivery by managing relationships and interaction with cross functional national and regional teams.

Supply Planning

• Drive the delivery of a detailed production plan to the factory taking into account factory constraints (line capacity, labour/ shift patterns), supply, distribution constraints (warehousing and transport) as well as internal and external supplier constraints (e.g. raw and packaging materials).

Stores Management

• Manage the packaging and ingredients store to ensure appropriate stock levels to meet production requirements.
• Drive the attainment of stores standards relating to receipting, storage, safeguarding and issuing practices, aging stock, optimal stock levels and obsolescence.

Sales and Operations Planning

• Using both the detailed production plan and the longer term RCCP, provide input into the S&OP planning process indicating potential supply gaps that may arise against the forward supply plan. Make recommendations on how these gaps could be closed or if not possible, advise the S&OP team on possible product substitution options.
• Raw and packaging materials required to meet this longer term supply plan must be taken into account when determining whether supply gaps may exist.

Inbound Supply Chain Planning

• Manage the complexity of the inbound supply chain ensuring that the planning of factories is translated into optimal customer service and maximized profit.
• Work closely with the planners in order to fully understand their forecasts for the next 13 weeks and use this information weekly/daily to build a forward production plan that balances the demand plan with supply while minimising cost throughout the supply chain.
