Our Cape Town based Technology team are recruiting for a Technical Architect. The core function of the department is to build the financial trading platform that services our Global clients.

Job responsibilities

• Advising business on strategic ‘build or buy’ decision-making.
• Driving innovation, regular reviews of tech stack, keeping 3rd-party libraries current.
• Work with tech team to create and approve technical solutions that are;
• Smart, well designed (simple), robust, scalable
• Intuitive – negating need for user guides
• Self-maintaining, easy to support – Defensive checks, using alerts appropriately.
• Keep best practice guidelines & GPP standard documentation up to date and work with teams to adopt/adhere to them.
• To advise business on MS licensing requirements
• Strong appreciation for UX design principles
• Work alongside (assist) Dev Team Lead on;
• Internal Projects
• Continuous Integration (CI) environment – in progress
• Controlled/packaged deploys – coming soon
• GBO2 front-end revamp – coming soon
• Achieving security certifications – coming soon
• Code reviews
• Planning/running weekly tech sessions
• Keeping skills current/training/mentoring
• Release management in-line with best practices
• Mentoring and developing the Dev team

• Integrated Development Environment used:

Education and Requirements

• You should have a recognized and relevant B.Com/B.Sc/B.Eng university degree, preferably in Comp Sci and/or Information Systems.
• Expert working knowledge in a .Net SQL environment, ASP.Net, HTML5, Web Services, JavaScript and XML.
• Experience in requirements capture, analysis techniques and process improvement approaches.
• Ability to lead and influence others.
• Able to influence and drive projects to meet key milestones and overcome challenges.
• Ability to work well with all levels of the organisation.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent personal organisation and ability to prioritise and carry out multiple tasks.
• Comfortable working without routine supervision.
• A desire to remain technically capable and an expert in current technologies.
