Internal Auditor at JCDecaux Africa

Job description

To ensure maximum independence, the internal auditor provides an independent and reasonable assurance on the level of internal control, processes and the accuracy of financial information for the whole range of the Group’s activities and for all African countries where the Group is represented. He also performs on regular basis fraud testing and risk assessment. Lastly, he could be involved in due diligences for potential acquisitions in cooperation with corporate M&A team.

Main activities

The internal auditor is in charge of:

• Conducting audit missions:
• Upstream preparation of the mission
• On-site intervention through different methods (interviews / dialogues with the relevant collaborators, observations, tests…)
• Analysis of the relevancy of the implementation of internal control and risk evaluation processes
• Elaboration of recommendation in order to optimize the processes
• Drafting a synthesis report of the mission
• Presentation of the results of internal audit missions to JCDecaux Africa Executive Committee
• Ensuring a follow-up of the proposed action plans
• Occasionally accompanying operational staff in the implementation of new processes and/or organizations

During the audits, the main abilities required are:

• Listening skills and critical thinking
• Strong listening skills are necessary to obtain the right information and to know how to assess situations. Critical thinking allows to bounce back on given answers for any in-depth interview. Also, the ability to step back and analyze.
• Polyvalent and adaptable
• As he will approach the whole range of activities and processes of the Group, the auditor must show adaptability and broad skills. Open-mindedness and the sense of teamwork are important qualities.
• Firm and diplomatic
• The internal auditor must make clear to his interlocutors the utility of the approach and of the changes to implement. Pedagogue but sometimes firm, he needs to convince while building a trusting environment.
• Technical skills
• The internal auditor has strong knowledge of accounting and finance.

Level of education

• Master’s Degree
• Diploma
• Business School or Engineering School
• Level of experience for the job
• First experience of 3 years in Big Four firm
• An experience in internal audit after a Big Four firm would be a strong plus

Knowledge

• Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is indispensable
• Excellent command of Excel pack, particularly Excel and Powerpoint
• Familiar with accounting and financial audit techniques
• Ideally good knowledge of Audit-specific tools such as IDEA, ACL
