Job description

The Biovac Institute requires a Specialised Cleaner to contribute to its mission of establishing local biological and vaccine manufacturing capability at its Cape Town based site. Being the only one of its kind in South Africa, Biovac strives to respond to the vaccine needs of the developing countries, specifically South Africa and Sub Saharan Africa. This is a particularly exciting time for the company as it continues to grow, strengthen and build on its success and further develop its capabilities, products, services and market diversification.   The successful incumbent will report to the Shared Services Supervisor.

The Key Performance Areas for this position include:

• Ensure cGMP implementation daily on work instructions.
• Understanding the quality assurance aspects and good documentation practices relating to GMP.
• Completion of the respective logs to avoid QA/audit findings and using Good documentation practices
• Understanding and practicing of quality assurance aspects and good documentation practices at all times.
• Ensure the coordination of removal of hazardous biological and chemical waste is done timeously.
• Perform production activities to achieve the set target within the production timelines
• Knowledge of the cleanroom to prevent deviations in manufacture i.e. the cleaning process and related activities.
• Ensure cleaning activities are performed as per the cleaning requirements:
• Understanding and adhering to all cleaning and preparation procedures.
• Executing the cleaning process according to the SOP and alerting the Supervisor/Section Head to prevent downtime.
• Management and storage all cleaning equipment.
• Cleanroom Checks and Stock Control:
• Complete all daily routine checks for all designated areas within production facility as per daily plan and timeline.
• Complete checks throughout the day to ensure Production areas and other structures remain clean, tidy and in a GMP state.
• Ensure all stock for cleaning is in place and available as required within the areas.
• Waste Removal:
• Routine removal of waste from the cleanroom according to the required SOPs.
• Cleanroom Garment Control:
• Replenishment of cleanroom garments/items as and when required.
• Ensure timeous cleanroom gown distribution and management.
• Correct dispatch of cleanroom garments for processing.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

• Grade 12 / / Equivalent, with Math literature and Life Sciences
• Knowledge of and experience in general hygiene practices
• Knowledge of and experience in cleaning products and applications
