Senior Software Engineer at Swift Momentum

Job description

As a Technology team member, you are expected to contribute to building a highly scalable e-commerce platform. We are currently able to successfully cater for just over 50 000 concurrent sessions and are looking to, as Africa's appetite for e-commerce grows, be able to comfortably serve 10-20 times this amount. To get this right, we have to implement and enforce engineering best practices, coax and encourage others to follow the guidelines and essentially mentor people out of bad habits, protecting the technical integrity of what we are building, while simultaneously growing effective technologists within the greater team.

You are a good candidate if you:

• Are a motivated self-starter who takes ownership of your work
• Handle conflict well and work well in a team
• Have an understanding of design patterns and have a strong architectural sense
• Have a good deal of experience in software development and understand the nuts and bolts of the web
• Are keen to foster a culture of continuous improvement by learning, applying and educating others
• Have strong communications skills
• Have at least 5+ years of industry experience in a software development environment

• Source control (GIT / stash / Bitbucket server)
• At least 2 of the following software languages ( NodeJS / PHP / Python / Java / C# / GO )
• Building RESTful services
• SQL (MysSQL, PostgresSQL) and noSQL databases (Elasticsearch / Redis)
• It would also be great if you have experience in:
• Devops ( Docker / Bamboo / Jenkins CI )
• Microservices
• Using or implementing GraphQL
• Magento / Phalcon / Yii PHP
• Using and implementing GraphQL
