Specification

• Planting and maintaining plants destined for screening trials.
• Collect and test plant / seed samples for pathogens.
• Seed sample preparation for testing.
• Media and buffer preparation.
• Culture maintenance and inoculum production.
• Inoculation and disease evaluation of various types of pathogens on a variety of plants.
• Take inventory and order laboratory supplies and reagents.
• Conduct general housekeeping chores on a daily basis.
• Wash/sanitize equipment used.

Requirements

• National Diploma in Microbiology
• Basic understanding of Plant Pathology test procedures
• Computer skills (MS word, Excel, Internet, E-Mail, Outlook)
• Well developed understanding of laboratory processes and equipment
