    Commercial Manager

    Job description

    Job Purpose:

    Provide commercial acumen and leadership into the capital asset management division looking after utility scale Solar photo voltaic plants. The commercial manager’s main purpose will be to streamline and structure asset management operations and develop means to optimise and increase income generated from capital assets.

    Roles and Duties

    • Understand and develop the commercial business of a utility scale solar farm and drive the business to increase performance, revenue and profitability.
    • Provide leadership, motivation and direction to the Operations and Maintenance Team, and develop and implement strategies to guide the division into a world class capital asset management entity.
    • Assist the Director of Operations in tracking trends and develop proactive initiatives to mitigate identified issues on the plants.
    • Own, implement and drive optimisation initiatives or the implementation of new technologies to keep the plants relevant and profitable moving into the future.
    • Lead and manage the various subcontracts, suppliers, vendors and commercial stakeholders, both local and international.
    • Plan and manage operational budgets and maintenance or upgrade cycles, and report profit / loss to the executive team.
    • Provide monthly reporting to the executive and Board in prescribed form.
    • Develop processes and systems to duplicate and roll out established methodologies and operating procedures onto new farms.

    Requirements

    • A good leader of people and sound communicator
    • Degree or tertiary education in operations management or commerce.
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in managing capital assets in a leadership role. Experience in Solar will be beneficial, but is not a requirement, however the candidate will be expected to demonstrate experience in managing and optimising capital infrastructure.
    • Experience and knowledge of contracting, legal, commercial and financial structures.
