Project Engineering Manager at Amec Foster Wheeler

Job description

Amec Foster Wheeler is currently recruiting for a Project Engineering Manager with extensive experience in the Mining and Minerals industry.

• Manage the project design group to ensure that the design is in accordance with project and Company technical requirements, schedule and budgets
• Assess the engineering resources required and liaise with the functional heads to agree the allocation of appropriate resources. Ensure that the project schedule is developed in accordance with corporate standards and good engineering practice
• Confirm that the engineering scope is well defined and is aligned with the budgets created
• Ensure that the engineering deliverables are produced timeously and in accordance with corporate quality requirements
• Ensure that the key personnel in the project design team have been inducted and have a thorough understanding of:
• Manage the project scope of work and services
• Handle work breakdown structure, project schedule
• Design man-hour budgets & equipment budgets
• Ensure standards and procedures are to be adopted
• Arrange the set-up of systems, which facilitate the project design in a timely and cost effective manner
• Review all design activities on a regular basis and take action to ensure design deliverables are produced on time and within budget
• Ensure that the necessary technical reviews and checks are undertaken in accordance with the Company's procedures, to ensure technical and quality standards
• Actively identify changes to scope and other decisions that impact the design man-hours and progress, and ensure that these changes are captured and assessed
• Provide guidance to the Project Manager and Client on the impact of decisions on design budgets and progress

Skills / Qualification

• BSc / B Tech Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering (or equivalent) which is acceptable for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA)
• Strong technical background with a broad multidisciplinary base in mineral processing
• Strong understanding of working in a matrix environment
