    Structural Technician / Technologist

    Job description

    Responsibilities

    KEY ROLE AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The successful candidate will have an engineering background and use Revit software to design and detail the structural components from rough or general architectural scheme drawings, insert details, complete other information necessary to make detailed drawings clear and complete. Attention to detail and the ability to perform and understand multi service co-ordination is critical.

    THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Work with a team of engineers on multi-disciplinary engineering projects
    • Design and develop Revit models for structural engineering services to standards
    • Co-ordinate engineering services
    • Manipulate/translate various digital file formats in order to create useable Revit models
    • Work closely with Internal Project Manager(s) and Lead Revit specialist(s) to review and meet project goals
    • Assist in Revit model development and the production of construction documentation
    • Acquire models and information from suppliers and ensure the 3D components comply with the technical engineering specifications
    • Actively keep abreast of current trends in developments.
    • Perform site visits and investigations when required
    • Perform rebar detailing if so required
    • Comply with WSP’s project delivery processes

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • Minimum Professional accreditation: National Diploma with excellent marks. BTech Degree would be of advantage
    • Autodesk Revit and AutoCad proficiency essential. Certification as ‘Autodesk Certified Professional’ in Revit and AutoCad will be of advantage.
    • Experience in concrete and structural steel design
    • Experience with site inspections and/or site supervision
    • 3 to 5 year post graduate experience

    • Must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges
