Technical Operations Manager Electronic Services at Airports Company South Africa

Job description

The successful person will be reporting to the Senior Manager: Airport Systems and will be responsible to:

• Responsible for the quality of Airport Systems Services delivered through Service Providers and specifically when quality issues arise.
• Work closely with other IT functions ( e.g. Quality, EA, Security, etc.) to ensure airport systems are aligned across all business and IT security frameworks.
• Responsible for implementing the Airport Systems strategy, design and general health (stability and availability) of all Airport Systems
• Develop the event categorisation framework to qualify events and determine remediating actions across all airport systems
• Plan, organise, lead and control subordinate’s activities to ensure sub-functional objectives are met or exceeded
• Manage people development initiatives, succession planning and talent management to meet functional performance standards
• Provide technical / Professional support to internal and external stakeholders to ensure achievement of functional and organisational objectives.
• Build, support and maintain healthy, diverse internal and external stakeholders to ensure achievement of functional and organisational goals. Implement remedial actions where required
• Monitor and ensure adherence to statutory regulations, organisational standards, policies and procedures

Technical Skills and Experience

The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such, will be required:

• A relevant Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology and / or Computer Sciences;
• Minimum of 7 years of airport/ technical systems relevant experience.
• Working Knowledge of the Aviation / Transport and/or Airports industries as well as Technology Trends and an appreciation of the dynamics of the public sector;
• In-depth technical expertise combined with excellent planning, coordination, and communication skills;
• Clear understanding and use of leading practices methodologies for developing and managing enterprise applications and datasets

The ideal candidate must be diplomatic, methodical and aware of big picture considerations while paying attention to detail. Furthermore, the ideal candidate must be able to exercise good judgement when making decisions and communicate well.
