    ESG Officer

    Job description

    The Environmental Social Governance (ESG) Officer will be responsible for all ESG activity at a regional level. They will work closely with the investment teams to ensure implementation of the Group’s ESG Management System (“ESG MS”) across the Fund pipeline and Partner Companies.

    Core Functional Responsibilities

    • Undertake ESG analysis and engagement for investments across regional and sector funds.
    • Work with investment teams in managing ESG risks within the Partner companies.
    • Build knowledge beyond private markets space with respect to engagement and governance analysis working closely with engagement specialist.
    • Liaising and scoping environmental social due diligences with consultancies and ESG advisors.
    • Assist in the management of E&S consultants and advisors.
    • Annual monitoring and reporting on E&S action plans against compliance with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards.
    • ESG focused research specifically relevant to the investments held across our client portfolios.
    • Liaise with key stakeholders and investors on ESG commitments and participate in fund raising.
    • Assist with daily, monthly and quarterly reporting.
    • Client management of ESG issues.
    • Frequent travel to Partner Companies.
    • Assist the ESG head on various strategic issues including consultations and industry initiatives.
    • Administer record keeping databases and support the team on ad-hoc tasks.

    Educational Requirement

    Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as international relations, law, economics, environmental/social sciences or business related degree

    Experience Requirements

    • Strong experience in industry and business with a strong commercial understanding.
    • Minimum 5 years experience in ESG related fields, especially with development financial institutions and good working knowledge of the World Bank guidelines.
    • Experience in auditing against World Bank/IFC Performance Standards and sector guidelines.
    • Experience or understanding of governance analysis and engagement work
    • ESG experience in the private equity space and or infrastructure essential
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Power-point
