Legal project management, in a nutshell, is the application of the concepts of project management to the management of legal matters. More and more, law firms and corporates – locally and abroad - are realizing that legal project management can be an effective tool for improving efficiency in the delivery of legal services.

Thus: We are currently recruiting for a suitably interested and qualified candidate to join our Legal team in Cape Town as a Legal Project Manager.

Role Description

This person will form part of the Litigation Support team and will primarily manage largescale document review projects effectively and efficiently. Included in this role (note: this list is not exhaustive):

• Training of review team (case material and review platform)
• Assist with the development of the review methodology / consulting
• Quality control and workflow management
• Client communication
• Reporting (external and internal)
• Assisting Head of Litigation Support with ad hoc tasks
• Performance management of project teams
• Industry knowledge building
• Continual enhancement of our service offering through seeking feedback from clients and introducing new ideas from the wider litigation support environment.

• Trustworthy
• Proactive and forward thinking
• Knowledgeable of basic legal principles and ability to follow instructions, particularly to distinguish between relevant and irrelevant information
• The ability to communicate effectively and professionally with clients internationally
• Exhibits ability to work in a routine and structured environment, while being flexible
• Exhibits a diligent and thorough work ethic
• Law degree from reputable institution
• Admission as an attorney
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a legal services environment
• Hands-on experience in litigation
• Knowledge of e-discovery platforms will be beneficial
• Strong project management experience will be beneficial

• Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a team
• Ability to motivate a team
• Attention to detail (this skill cannot be emphasised enough)
• Ability to make important decisions under pressure
• Excellent drafting skills (email correspondence with client and reporting)
• Good technical skills (review platform / drawing reports and statistics / targeted searches if required by client / train other team members)
• Excellent computer skills (Windows, MS Office, etc.)
• Administrative skills (time management and team administration)
• Ability to work independently (if required)

Required Education And Experience

• Law degree from reputable institution
• Admission as an attorney
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a legal services environment
• Hands-on experience in litigation
• Knowledge of e-discovery platforms will be beneficial
• Strong project management experience will be beneficial
