    Business Development Executive

    Job description

    Job Summary Statement

    Aveng Grinaker-LTA is a multi-disciplinary construction group, anchored in South Africa and focused on selected infrastructure, energy and mining opportunities in Africa.

    The incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing a business development, growth and client / stakeholder relationship management strategy. One of its key responsibilities will be to develop and sustain new client relationships to enable profitable revenue growth. It will also be responsible for initiating initial contact with targeted key clients and stakeholders and transferring over time the relationship to the operating business units. This will be a growth focused role with clear performance targets to be achieved.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):

    • Collaborating with the Business Unit’s Managing Director’s individually and the Operating Group Executive Committee to identify and target potential future clients and key stakeholders for engagement
    • Developing and executing an appropriate engagement strategy for each targeted client / stakeholder
    • Determining a business development and growth strategy in line with the organization’s strategy
    • Implement and measure the effectiveness of the business development strategy and recommend necessary changes where required to ensure the Business Unit / operating group meets its growth targets
    • Build and maintain good relationships with various external and internal stakeholders
    • Actively market the capability of the operating group to external stakeholders to win new work
    • Represent the organisation on relevant business forums
    • Engage with key stakeholders on a regular basis to manage and mitigate any business risks
    • Actively grow the operating groups brand within the markets we operate
    • In conjunction with the operating group’s technical capability, identify and drive new innovative business opportunities

    ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Relevant management and or technical degree
    • Relevant post graduate business development qualification will be an advantage

    EXPERIENCE:

    • 5+ years business development experience
    • Experience in a senior line management position
    • Key account management and customer retention
    • Experience in developing new markets
    • Relevant marketing and networking experience

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

    • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to persuade and convince others
    • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
    • Ability to effectively plan and prioritise work
    • Market and competitor analysis
    • In depth business strategy execution experience
    • Strong business analytical skills / capability
