Senior System Specialist at Valmet

Job Description

• As a service engineer, you will be responsible for technical support on Valmet DNA Hardware equipment and setting up software on various stations for assigned customers and internal service team in South Africa. You must be able to support our local service department with system hardware technical problems and provide various in depth technical training internally and when required for customers.
• You will also provide general and specific technical support in all project excecution phases; support customers on Valmet DNA platforms, solving problems and ensuring satisfaction of installed-base customers, participating in customer technical seminars on Valmet Platform.
• As service specialist you will liaise with Tampere RTD to provide local office with needed knowledge on Valmet Platform. You will conduct full hardware audits on customer’s sites that have purchased audits, set-up and test new Valmet ACN’s, Operator Stations and various other servers for customer’s sites.
• You will check quotations with local service manager to provide technically correct solutions to customer and check system layout during DCS FATs.
• You will provide product support to local engineers on new products, and will implement and support Valmet Network Topology in various mills.
• Quality and Safety will be at the top of your mind as well, and you will timely report any safety issue or quality non-conformity, and will contribute to their solution and avoid their repetition.
• In the spirit of teamwork, you are expected to share good practice and knowledge with colleagues at all levels of the organization, to promote trustworthy, positive attitude and good motivation inside the team via our own behavior, to regularly communicate your own planning and updates with the local management.

Requirements

• Degree or Higher National Diploma in Electrical Engineering-Light current or equivalent, Instrumentation and process control trade test.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in the field of Distributed Control Systems, best if you are familiar with Valmet DNA hardware.
• Ability to work under pressure in different customer situations and in different cultural environments
• Self-managed and ability to set your own daily and weekly priorities with the customer
• Passion for serving customers and for collaborating with your colleagues
• Passion for applying world-class technology to our customer’s benefit
• Knowledge of our customers’ processes and/or automation technology
• Fluent in English. Other languages are plus.
• A valid driving license and willingness to travel.
• Top proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet, e-mail systems, ERP systems
