    Reporting To Group Marketing Executive

    Additional Info

    Travel/Out of Office at 40% of work time is expected for this position as it will require customer interfacing and understanding.
    This position is for Sub-Saharan Africa and thus travel into Africa can also be expected.

    PURPOSE OF POSITION

    The Primary Purposes Of The Position Are As Follows

    • Manage the Fleet product portfolio within Gilbarco AFS for the Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) Territory as an individual contributor.
    • Develops Fleet products by identifying potential Fleet products or Fleet product gaps, conducting market research, generating product requirements, determining product specifications, determining product production timetables, product pricing, and time-integrated plans for product introduction as well as developing and executing marketing strategies.
    • Research the markets that Gilbarco AFS operate within to determine market segmentations for the Fleet vertical to enable development of go to market product strategies, product innovation and competitor analysis.
    • Delivers product adoption through driving product quality and developing value selling material and case studies in conjunction with Marketing Communications to maximise sales revenues, market share and profit margins.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Product Management
    • Develop products through;
    • Identifying potential products or product gaps.
    • Performing market research and Voice of the Customer (VOC) activities.
    • Generating product Marketing Requirement Specifications (MRS).
    • Determining product specifications.
    • Determining product commercial opportunity and probability of performance.
    • Determining product production timetables.
    • Determining and managing product pricing.
    • Developing and executing product introduction and marketing strategies.
    • Research the markets that Gilbarco AFS operate within to;
    • Determine market segmentations.
    • Develop go to market product strategies.
    • Drive product innovation to maintain market relevance.
    • Perform and maintain competitor analysis.
    • Develop and deliver product commercialisation opportunities.
    • Monitor won/lost activities with sales and tenders to record in a Marketing database for corrective actions.
    • Perform Voice of the Customer (VOC) with the market to;
    • Determine customers' needs and desires by specifying the research needed to obtain market information.
    • Confirm the results obtained from the above activities.
    • Ensure product development is aligned to customer requirements and needs.
    • Development objectives are prioritised to customer urgency.
    • Drive Product management principals through FBS
    • Liaise with Sales, Marketing and Engineering and Operations teams to ensure the strategic needs of the Customer are met and brings new business to Gilbarco AFS, this should be done through following the PPG process.
    • Champions the Fleet product lines through the PPG process.
    • Develop and maintain internal/external, short/long-term product roadmaps on all Fleet product lines.
    • Develop and maintain competitor market analysis, competitor feature/cost analysis.
    • Develop and maintain product specification data sheets and product configuration technical sheets.
    • Work with the Sales, Marketing and Engineering, Project and Operations teams in Gilbarco AFS and the broader Gilbarco Veeder-Root organisation to identify, investigate and introduce new Fleet product lines in the SSA market.
    • Work with the Sales and Marketing and Engineering teams in Gilbarco AFS to formulate and develop business strategies and plans to achieve targeted growth and maximize market opportunities for Gilbarco AFS on all Fleet product lines.
    • Work with the Sales, Marketing and Engineering and Operations teams in Gilbarco AFS to formulate and develop go-to market strategies and training plans to achieve improved customer service and product quality on all Retail product lines whilst acting as a product evangelist to build awareness and understanding.
    • Strategic Partnership Management
    • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with external service providers and technology partners to provide services relating to the Fleet products that are not deemed necessary to internalise.
    • Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with external Oil Companies, Banking Partners and Other Merchants to provide networks and other services relating to the Fleet products that are critical to the success of the Fleet product offering.
    • Industry Associations
    • Establish and maintain communication and participation with industry bodies to ensure Gilbarco AFS are considered thought leaders in the Fleet vertical and are consulted with on matters relating to Fleet management.
    • Tenders
    • Participate in developing, establishing, managing and reviewing tender pricing mechanisms to drive tender competitiveness.

    • 95% of PPG Fleet projects meeting revenue targets set at MS2a
    • Margin in SSA Fleet > 50%

    Lagging

    • Revenue of $x achieved in SSA Fleet
    • 95% of PPG Retail projects meeting quality targets set as MS2a
    • 95% OTD of MS1 Initiation Phase
    • 95% OTD of MS2a Definition Phase
    • Number of Management/Quality audits > 5

    Personal Qualifications & Experience

    Education/achievements

    • Post Graduate Degree with Honours (Business, finance, accounting or a related field
    • Masters in Business Administration (preferred)

    Experience/Knowledge

    • At least 5 years experience in a product management or product development position.
    • At least 1 year experience in strategic product management or strategic product development position.
    • Proven capability in developing, establishing and maintaining product marketing strategies, roadmaps, competitor analysis and product function/feature/price charts.
    • Proven capability in managing complex product delivery environments across business fucntions and geographies.
    • Proven capability to interact with stakeholders at all levels, including presentation and driving to conclusion pricing activities at an executive level.
    • Exposure to strategic pricing models and product management techniques (preferred)

    Specific Skills

    • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, especially in Microsoft Excel.
    • Self-starter with a capability to deliver results without direct supervision.
    • High analytical capability with an in-depth knowledge of financial models as well as product and project costing models.
    • Ability to participate in and be effective in geographically spread and cross functional team.
