A number of opportunities exist for Professorships or Associate Professorships for candidates who have built their careers in the higher education sphere with a specific focus on Behavioral Operations Research or Microeconomics and Econometrics.

Key responsibilities would include:

• Oversee that colleagues keep up to date with national and international trends in their discipline
• Oversee the development of curricula that will support the Programme Qualification Mix (PQM) of the College and will contribute towards student graduateness
• Oversee the implementation of the ODL tuition delivery model
• Teach postgraduate papers/modules
• Supervise Master and Doctoral students
• Provide leadership in planning, organisation and implementing processes and structures to improve supervision of postgraduate students
• Examine Master's and Doctoral students' dissertations and theses
• Ensure compliance with the College's Service Charter
• Conduct research that could be discipline, field, and/or subject specific in order to produce at least five accredited research outputs in a period of three years, thereby enhancing the University's standing as a research institute of international repute
• Determine own developmental path to become a National Research Foundation (NRF) rated scientist
• Mentor young upcoming researchers
• Initiate and participate in reflective research projects and encourage integration into teaching and learning practices
• Participate in curriculum related community engagement and/or research-related community engagement
• Promote ODL research
• Participate voluntarily in University structures/committees on various levels
• Provide general academic leadership and mentor academic colleagues in the discipline
• Additionally, the roles encompassing Decision Sciences would require the incumbent to be willing and able to lead the focus area of the Department in Behavioral Operations Research.

Minimum Requirements for these roles are:

• Relevant Doctoral Degree at NQF 10 in either Behavioral Operations Research (or closely related subject) OR Economics.
• For the Behavioral Operations Research role basic training in Operations Research, Mathematics, Applied Mathematics or Statistics
• Minimum of 5 years teaching experience (for Professor) or 4 years teach experience for Associate Professor
• Experience in teaching postgraduate courses or postgraduate project leadership, supervision of masters or doctoral students is essential for professors.
