We are looking for professionals who will be responsible for establishing accounting policies and procedures to ensure that all financial transactions are executed and documented in accordance with company policies and legal requirements. Ensure compliance to USGAAP rules and be the gatekeeper for accuracy on books and records. SOX being one of the main responsibilities of the role, effectiveness of internal controls is an essential responsibility.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Understand the business
• Review and advice on country sales transactions in terms accounting compliance. This task includes the review and sign off on any contracts when necessary.
• Act as a country financial liaison providing early alerts on accounting and business concerns to appropriate levels of the organization
• Provide early notification of issues which might have impact on financial performance
• Controllership
• When reviewing the business, focus on specific business and country risks and ensure adequate internal controls exist such there are no compliance exceptions with Sarbanes Oxley 404 when transactions are ultimately executed.
• Work with the region HQ, corporate office, internal audit, and external auditors to ensure compliance to all policies and procedures
• Ensure books and records are in compliance with US GAAP, SOX, and local laws and regulations as appropriate
• Direct the team in closing the books and records on a monthly basis and drive the Balance Sheet and P&L reviews and analysis on time.
• Ensure quality control, adherence to US GAAP, and compliance with VeriFone’s global policies, practices, and standards by working with the corporate office, internal audit, and external auditors.
• Ensure compliance to statutory requirements and legislations
• Be partner to the corporate tax team for optimum tax structure as well as tax compliance
• Be familiar with USGAAP Revenue Recognition Criteria and support recognition assessments where needed
• Company-wide projects
• Support all business transformation projects, and lead within the region, including but not limited to the following:
• Oracle conversions/enhancements
• New system implementations
• Shared service centers
• Expense optimization
• Personnel
• Assist in mentoring/developing staff/succession planning/general leadership of controllership function within the organization
• Be in close contact with the SSC team and ensure both country and the team in SSC office works collaboratively
• Train the controllership team and other staff, not limited to Finance function, on raising awareness and knowledge of financial management, compliance and control matters.

Reporting Relationships

Reports directly to EEMEA Regional Controller

Knowledge & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or accounting.
• Strong statutory knowledge is a must
• Strong local tax knowledge is required
• CPA is an asset
• Audit background is an asset
• Eight to Ten years of total related experience with three years in management
• Experience on Revenue Recognition under USGAAP is an asset
• Analytical skills with problem solving capacity
• Ability to understand the business logic behind the numbers, recognize and communicate improvement potential
• Open, innovative and structured mindset
• Service delivery attitude towards internal customers
• Fluent in English
• Readiness for travelling when needed and flexible working hours
