MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Directed by the General Manager Africa and the Regional HSEC Manager, the primary purpose of this role is to provide effective HSEC delivery to new operations, to implement and contribute to the design of HSEC operational practices and to build HSEC capacity within the team.

JOB OBJECTIVES

• (60%) Operational Delivery – this role offers advice and technical support on field operational HSEC challenges in Southern Africa, seeking to implement Group leading practice in areas lacking in a mature HSEC culture.
• (40%) Regional Effectiveness, Individual and Team Collaboration, Improvement Focus and People Focus – this role is critical to enable continuous improvement in our safety performance and towards operational excellence. It is also focus on developing competent employees from an HSEC leadership perspective.

Minimum Requirements

Key requirements for the role include:

• A tertiary qualification in a HSEC or similar specialist field e.g. environmental science, social sciences, occupational hygiene, medicine or occupational safety
• Proficient knowledge of the South Africa or Namibia HSEC-related regulations and legislation
• Experience in an HSEC Advisory role within mining and exploration
• Fluency in English and any other local languages
• Ability to work in remote locations in the field with the project teams during field season
• Ability to work Monday to Friday out of our District office in Johannesburg
• Experience working for an international company with exposure to different HSEC systems
• Ability to work well in a team
