Job description

Function: 

Management of a balanced portfolio of Fixed and Mobile Wholesale Products and Services for the Carrier Services department.

Role purpose:

Innovating a well balanced portfolio of class leading Fixed, Mobile products and services, through various end-to-end product development and management lifecycle phases, towards positioning us as Africa’s preferred enterprise wholesale carrier of choice.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership

• Creation of a complementary set of Unique and Superior products/services that positions the division within a differentiated Unique Competing Space in the market.
• Screening, Selection and Prioritization of high value demand initiatives based on portfolio resource constraints.
• Responsible for opportunity sensing, ideation, concept definition, development and commercialization of new innovative products/services and propositions.
• Responsible for product definition, market needs analysis, financial feasibility, cost and price modelling, operating model process alignment, training, and development of go-to-market product plans to ensure the division achieves the objectives of profitable growth and market share expansion for the accountable products and services.
• Enhancement of existing Products and Services based on changing customer preferences and market conditions.
• Manage the post-introduction in-life cycle of the product(s) through the growth, maturity, decline and retirement stages to ensure benefit realization.

Key performance indicators:

• Successful commercialization of new propositions from ideation to launch.
• Successful evolution and enhancements of individual products (in-life) as per marketing objective based on lifecyle adoption stage.
• Creation of a balanced and diversified portfolio of products/services in line with division’s profitability objectives.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

Job Knowledge:

• A minimum of 3-5 years proven experience in Product Portfolio Life Cycle management using waterfall and/or agile type methodologies.
• Thorough understanding of Fixed, Mobile and Converged Communications technologies and solutions.
• Thorough Understanding of Wholesale & Carrier Services offerings such as Network Capacity Leases, IPLC, IRU’s, International Voice, SMS, Roaming and Signalling services.
• Thorough understanding of wholesale Pricing methodologies, investment appraisal techniques and financial feasibility assessments.
• Understanding of International industry regulatory requirements and standards such as defined by the ITU-T, GSMA, MEF.

Job Related Skills:

• Good communication skills (written, verbal and presentation).
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form, and manage stakeholder (colleagues, customers and industry) relationships at all levels both internally and externally.

Must have technical /professional qualifications:

• A 3 year Degree/Diploma in a technical or business discipline is essential.
• 3-5 years Wholesale & Carrier Products and Services experience (preferred)
