Exigent is providing legal services to one of South Africa’s largest FMCG retailers. We are looking for a candidate to manage and grow the current portfolio.

Location: Johannesburg, Sandton ( Northern suburbs)

Supervision: On-going indirect supervision from the Head of Legal Services.Reports to the Head of Commercial Legal Services.

Requirements

Position Characteristics:

• Proven legal corporate working experience as a South African attorney, LLB is non-negotiable- required experience is between 1-3 years PQE
• Familiarity with commercial law, legal procedures and protocols
• Sound judgement and ability to analyse situations and information
• Satisfactory knowledge of day-to-day operations of an account manager. Ability to lead, take responsibility and act autonomously including having an ability to make decisions
• Computer literacy is non-negotiable
• Proficiency in English
• Must be able to work remotely and independently as a consultant whilst still maintaining team morale internally
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to juggle multiple activities and work under pressure

Duties And Responsibilities

• Account Management
• Candidate is required to be a representative of Exigent ensuring all work is being conducted with integrity and responsibility; the candidate will be based on-site to develop and maintain existing client relationships. The candidate must be able to identify areas where client may need legal assistance. The candidate should be able to create and/or sustain operational processes, attend on developing annual account strategy, attend on analyzing and approving monthly reporting, manage work capacity and be able to identify account-related problems and rectify same. The candidate must be able to handle queries regarding invoicing, billing hours to client and work related issues raised by client.
• Project Management
• Candidate must be able to scope legal projects and produce quotations when required. The candidate must be able to drive, facilitate andimplement a legal project remotely by instructing, training and managing resources by using technological work tools available.
• Legal Work
• Candidate must be able to provide legal assistance to client by drafting and/or reviewing commercial contracts and other legal documents (template based and sui generis). The candidate must be able to expand knowledge on client’s internal policies, procedures and overall work style. The candidate will be required to provide legal insight and perform quality control checks on work being handed over to client. The candidate may be required to conduct legal research and to provide legal commentary when necessary. The candidate will be working with the many divisions and departments of the client and should have the ability to operate, discuss, negotiate and interact at a senior level; the candidate may be required to travel on a rare occasion.
