Nurse Educator Aged Care at Hunter New England Local Health District

Job description

• Plan, Organise, deliver and monitor education and competencies so that all staff attain the skills essential to provide care to the Aged Residents of Wallsend Aged Care Facility
• The skill set needed will be high but at least must meet the minimum requirements of the Aged Care Standards Agency and Hunter New England Local Health District
• To manage external education including contract education involving Department of Health & Ageing grants

Selection Criteria    

• Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse, with a portfolio demonstrating extensive clinical experience
• Recent and extensive experience in the provision of nursing education
• Additional relevant postgraduate certificate in geriatric/psychiatric nursing and/or in education and certificate IV in workplace training
• Demonstrated ability to work within a Person Centred Philosophy with commitment to Continuous Improvement
• Knowledge and demonstrated experience of the Aged Care Funding Instrument, the Aged Care Act and Accreditation standards for Aged Care Facilities including commitment to residents rights.
• Demonstrated capacity to implement effective educational programs in a busy clinical environment and committed to work within unit budgetary constraints
• Efficient computer skill
