Responsibilities

• Assist the editor (E) with the day-to-day operations, managing content and production of the magazine along with contributing editor (CE)
• Take the lead on co-ordinating production process with relevant in-house and external team members, with support from E and CE
• Generate relevant, creative feature ideas in line with the editorial mix, along with E and CE
• Update article leads list
• Research stories as briefed by editor and independently
• Assist the E and CE with drawing up article briefs and commissioning freelance writers
• Assist the E in handling freelancer communication and maintaining freelancer relationships
• Write copy
• Assist the E and CE in editing raw copy to ensure it is accurate, of the highest quality and within the writing standard
• Take responsibility, along with E and CE, for producing copy that is strong, clean, error free, factually correct, high quality content produced to brief, style and tone of magazine and on time, complete with all required elements and in correct layout format
• Liaise closely with the art director during production process in the preparation of publications for repro and print, along with E
• Take the lead on producing art brief
• Take the lead on creating the flatplan
• Take the lead on proofing layouts
• Take the lead on signing off of features in the absence of the editor
• Assist the E in sourcing media partnerships and managing the process
• Attend industry functions, events and conferences when required
• Contribute to social media and web strategy when necessary
