Specialist SHE: Product Transport Safety at Sasol

Purpose of Job /Role Intent:

• To implement a risk-based approach on all products throughout the product's lifecycle in order to enable the safe and sustainable management of products during its transportation
• To analyse & interpret the product transportation safety risk landscape for Sasol products
• To evaluate, identify and characterise the legal landscape for their transportation
• To assess the product transportation risks aiming to manage and mitigate potential and actual SHE consequences in the context of the one Sasol SHE

• To enable safe chemicals management for all stakeholders during the transportation of the product
• To analyse and recommend emerging trends ensuring product sustainability and external marketability of Sasol products
• To provide and share specialist knowledge and expertise with all relevant stakeholders within the Sasol value chain both externally and internally
• To ensure the implementation of the product transportation risk controls

Minimum Qualifications and Experience required:

• B Tech, B Com and/or BSc qualification
• 10 years total work experience

Core Elements of Job:

• Risk Management of the Chemical Product during transportation:
• Determine and assess the Sasol product transportation routes and mode of transport
• Develop, maintain and review the product transportation risks
• Recommend risk mitigation and minimisation controls, ensure implementation through the utilisation of tools and review the effectiveness thereof
• Recommend product transport risks to be considered for decision-making and impacting the business
• Manage the Legal landscape of Sasol Products for transportation:
• Investigate and interpret Local, National and International relevant legislation and analyse emerging product transportation requirements and risks
• Assess the regulatory compliance through analysing the legal requirements impacting on Sasol products during transport
• Develop and recommend controls for the adherence to legal requirements
• Ensure implementation of recommended controls through the utilisation of tools and review effectiveness thereof
• Product Transportation Technical Enablement:
• Specialist Product Training for transport service providers and drivers of wn fleets on safe Chemicals management
• Evaluate and assess safe Chemicals Management practices of transport service providers and own fleets (e.g. SQAS)
• Facilitate and coordinate the development of prescribed standards for product transportation, safety management for all business processes and structures (e.g. vehicle checking; route management; contract
• management; fatigue and driver management programmes; MOC process for product transport safety)
• Evaluate and assess the conformance of product transport safety stakeholders to prescribed standards
• Enable decision-making on requirements for the transportation of product through provision of technical specialist advice
• Product Transportation Incident Management:
• Adherence to the Sasol Group incident investigation procedure
• Respond to the scene of the incident where possible
• Perform the role of incident investigator as part of the Sasol Group incident investigator procedure and other delegated roles by incident owner
• Ensure implementation of corrective and preventative controls associated with the incident
• Advocacy:
• Share knowledge and expertise through the management of product transport
• Provide inputs and advice into product transport requirements for stakeholders
• Provide inputs into legal requirements associated with Product transport management
• Provide advice to external associations & bodies on trends & emerging product transport risks
