SC Johnson has an opportunity for a Maintenance Improvement Specialist, based in Rosslyn, South Africa.

Internal job title for this position is Senior Analyst - Maintenance Improvement Specialist - South Africa.

ROLE SUMMARY:

This plant-based role is both a strategic and hands-on position, aiming to ensure that all production equipment operates on basic conditions, safely, reliably, and at the required levels of productivity and quality. You will be a key member in the Preventative Maintenance pillar, providing continuous improvement through special projects, using Lean methodology. You will be also working with data, analyzing them to set priorities and asset key projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead maintenance & Kaizen Teams

• Ensure restoration of machines to basic condition
• Ensure root cause analysis is completed for machine failures and uses this information to improve the preventative/predictive maintenance plans.
• Coordinate technical input from the Maintenance Team to assist the Production Team Leaders/Productivity Engineers to create, improve and sustain the standard of the autonomous maintenance tasks completed by the operators.
• Ensure that Kaizen events are an integrated part of the maintenance process and the operators are engaged in the Kaizen event
• Provide detailed job plans for maintenance works orders that ensure safe and efficient execution of all maintenance jobs.
• Ensure job plan library is accurate plans for maintenance jobs.
• Coordinate with production planner to ensure job plans meet the timings of production
• Participate in the weekly “commitment meeting”
• Ensure alignment between production, engineering, and maintenance teams on the priorities and work content for the following week, the availability of necessary downtime, resources, and materials.
• Monitor progress vs. the scheduled work orders, update KPI’s, and take corrective action as needed.
• Train operators on Preventative Maintenance activities

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum National Diploma in Engineering Fields (Mechanical or Electrical): B-Tech degree in Mechanical/Electrical would be added advantage
• Strong technical skills & understanding of mechanical/electrical tasks relevant to the production equipment environment
• Detailed understanding of SAP Plant Maintenance
• Understanding of maintenance best practices
• Knowledge of Plant Maintenance systems
• Understanding of PLC programming, preferably with Siemens system
• Ability to effectively manage & organize multiple/conflicting priorities in a fast changing and sometimes ambiguous environment
• Strong analytical skills
• Good written & verbal communication skills
• Relevant technical experience in a comparable manufacturing environment with high-speed packaging equipment (preferably in an FMCG environment)
