    EHS&S Lead

    Job description

    Johnson & Johnson (Pty) Ltd is the world's most comprehensive manufacturer of healthcare products, as well as a provider of related services for the consumer, pharmaceutical and professional markets. Our Consumer segment includes a broad range of products used in the baby care, skin care, oral care, wound care and women’s health care fields, as well as nutritional and over-the-counter pharmaceutical products, and wellness and prevention platforms.

    As a hands-on leader in EHS&S, come and align regional EHS&S standards to ensure local EHS maturity.

    Reporting to the Regional EHS Director with a dotted line to the Cape Town Site (Plant) Lead, you will be responsible for leading and implementing the global EHS&S strategy & compliance for the Cape Town site of this multinational pharmaceutical giant. Based in Cape Town, the EHS&S Lead is responsible for ensuring all compliance with federal, state, local EHS regulations, as well as group / corporate standards (with some special attention on Industrial Hygiene, Process Safety Management (PSM), Machine Safety & Guarding, Environmental Safety and Warehouse Safety).

    Being part of the local EHS&S team, you will build influential relationships with internal stakeholders such as HR, sales, marketing and operations, field forces, customer services, supply chain, quality leaders and other site and multi-site leaders (global health, engineering and facility management) whilst paying attention to your external relationships with other manufacturers, suppliers, regulators, NGOs and 3rd party consultants or assessors.

    With a proven track record of leading excellence in EHSS performance, you will also need:- * A Degree (Science, Engineering or related)* A post graduate EHSS qualification * 5 -7 years experience in a leadership/management role * Experience gained within a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) / FDA (Food & Drug Administration) manufacturing environment (preferably pharmaceutical or biotech) * Technical experience in diverse EHS areas including but not limited to PSM (Process Safety Management), air, water, biosafety, ionizing, new product and process introductions, occupational safety, hazardous and medical waste, ergonomics, industrial hygiene (chemical handling is highly desirable * Demonstrated project management skills * Technical/working knowledge of federal, state and local regulations including SAMTRAC or related EHS&S Management Programs, Auditing ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001.

    Further to the abovementioned technical competencies, there are multiple soft and behavioural competencies against which your performance as a EHS&S champion will be evaluated.
