    Senior Technician Baggage

    Job description

    An exciting vacancy exists at King Shaka International Airport for an experienced individual within the Airport Management division.

    Key Performance Outputs

    The successful candidate, reporting to the Manager: Operations Coordination will be responsible for the following:

    • Responsible for the coordination of the Baggage Operations resources, systems and processes.
    • Ensure compliance to applicable local and international legislation and regulations, policies and procedures.
    • Ensure the development of Baggage Operational plans, SOPs and performance standards to ensure effective and efficient delivery of Baggage Operations.
    • Ensure alignment between implementation of Baggage Operational Plans and internal and external user / Stakeholder plans and requirements.
    • Ensure that all baggage standard operating procedures are kept updated and relevant.
    • Oversee the baggage performance and ensure that performance targets are met through close. cooperation with ramp handling companies and relevant stakeholders.
    • Manage the availability of the baggage system through continuous monitoring and verification.
    • Support the procurement of assets and equipment to meet supply and demand targets.
    • Conduct continuous Audit and quality control (activities and contractual) and implement remedial action where required.
    • Provide input and manage the allocated budget and identify cost-saving initiatives within area of control.
    • Identify and report possible efficiency enhancements and initiatives to ensure resource savings.

    Technical Skills and Experience:

    The following skills and experience or the equivalent of such, will be required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Commercial (Supply Chain) Industrial Engineering, or relevant.
    • A minimum of 5 years of operational experience.
    • 1-2-year’s supervisory experience is recommended.
    • Code B Drivers Licence.

    Competencies:

    This position calls for a candidate who is detail orientated. The ideal candidate will be composed and know how to plan, organise and coordinate efficiently, as well as deal with pressure. The candidate must have good decision making and report writing skills, and be able to think analytically. The candidate must be customer service orientated with good communication and interpersonal skills. The candidate should have an ability to work in a team and must be able to maintain good working relationships with employees and stakeholders.
