Electrical Technician at Sappi

Job description

Sappi Saiccor based in Umkomaas requires a suitably Electrical Technician to provide high level technical support to the electrical and related departments, specifically relating to plant optimization, plant automation, electrical reticulation and fault diagnosis in order to maximize the availability of the plant.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist the electrical foreman or artisan with breakdowns and fault-finding.
• Identify and implement small projects for optimization of the electrical plant
• Assist in commissioning of electrical equipment
• Provide and maintain documentation for projects, new installations and existing plants
• Set up and programming of PLC’s, Variable speed drives, SCADA systems and Protection relays
• Provide monthly reports to engineer on current projects and tasks
• Assist with planning and execution of shuts and projects
• Performs standby and assist in the training of trainee technicians

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• National Diploma Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) or related equivalent with a trade test
• 5years’ experience as a technician within a heavy industry environment
